To wish they made more Lemony Snicket films?

I have always thought the first one was a great watch.
Seems a shame it didn't do as well as expected and so no more movies were made.

Obviously the child actors are now too old to reprise their roles.

But I much preferred it to the first Harry Potter film.

YabsoooooU. It was awful!

YANBU

I loved it, actually I might see if DD enjoys it... Thanks for the reminder

We watched it again this weekend. My DS (5), DH and I all love it.
I hate Harry Potter.

I didn't like the way they played with the storylines, and the casting was a bit off (Jim Carrey was awful). I love the books, but thought the film was a complete wasted opportunity.

I haven't read the books (yet).

So I watched it at face value and I am a bit of a Jim Carrey fan.

It was like a Burton film for children, which is a good thing I reckon.

I think because I read the books first I watched it with a grumpy eye. I think there were parts from the first three or four books so obviously a lot was missed out.

It is a shame when they don't 'finish' a series. I wish they'd make the other films after the Golden Compass and the Narnia films seem to have stopped.

tobiasfunke · 31/01/2014 13:26

I haven't read the books yet as Ds is only 5. Probably after I have I will hate the film.

IndridCold · 31/01/2014 13:29

YABU the film was so awful that it actually put my DS off ever reading the books, which is very frustrating as I know he would really love them!

HaymitchAbarnathy · 31/01/2014 13:31

It's a brilliant film.

NigellasDealer · 31/01/2014 13:32

we read the books again and again but somehow after that the film did not really appeal. cannot bear jim carrey he is as cringey as Mr Bean!
i did like the costumes in the film though, they had that timelessness.

RiverRocks · 31/01/2014 14:11

They are continuing with the Narnia films, just very slowly.

The Silver Chair is in development, as is the Magician's nephew here

I hope they finish them, I love the books (except Horse and his Boy, which they seem to have left out of the film series...)

I gather then it is a bit of a marmite film.

Still reckon they should have made more Wink
