to be apprehensive about first day of work?

This is going to be my first proper job and I'm quite nervous!

The company I'm going to be working for is fab and the people that I have interacted with so far seem to be genuinely good people. I've been told that I'm going to have some weeks of training to get better acquainted with the job.

Despite that, I am beginning to get really apprehensive about my own ability to do the job :( I have no idea why but I keep thinking about what will happen if I don't understand the job or if I make a mistake! Are these feelings normal?

Totally normal. Just remember that there few weeks you have of training are the time to ask LOADS of questions.

You'll have a few months, most likely, where nobody will expect you to know exactly what you are doing.

Also, people will expect you to be nervous. Just be polite and friendly to everyone, and you'll be fine.

And congratulations on the job!

Thank you :) I feel such a sense of achievement to have gotten the job!

I just hope that I can keep it, haha.

I suppose I was imagining that they will already expect me to know loads about everything and this was making me a bit scared.

They gave you the job because they like you and want you to succeed. They wouldn't have chosen you if they didn't think you could do it. xx
