Implanting (IVF related)

carben · 29/01/2014 20:42

Just to set the record straight - when an embryo is transferred back into the uterus the doctor / nurse does NOT implant it - it is just transferred - only the embryo itself can implant. Why does no one who talks about IVF seem to grasp this ? It really pisses me off.

Why? Seems a trivial thing to get worked up about.

Isn't it Just a language thing?

What am I missing?

MothratheMighty · 29/01/2014 20:44

Have you visited Pedants' Corner?

eurochick · 29/01/2014 20:46

I've never heard anyone talk about implanting in that context. I've had 4 rounds and discussed them quite openly with lots of people. And I'm not sure that it bothers me anyway.

Schmoozer · 29/01/2014 20:47

IVF is very emotive. I get your point x

MayMiracle · 29/01/2014 20:47

What eurochick said ^^ (also had 4 rounds)

MrsBW · 29/01/2014 20:50

I'm in the process of adopting. Neve tried IVF so it's not colouring my view.

Someone the other day talked to me about my (future) childrens' 'real' (meaning birth) parents. As if I won't be my childrens' 'real' mother. (Clue: yes, I will be)

That's emotive too.

Can't get that worked up about that either.
