to feel a bit uptight/scared when DH is out in the evening

Whenever DH goes out in the evening for whatever reason I always get on edge and hear all sorts of bumps and bangs around the house and get myself worked up that someone has broken in...

We only moved in a few months ago so I guess I'm still getting used to noises in the house/from neighbours etc but I feel a bit pathetic really.

I work from home so am here all day on my own and have no problems then. Answer the door to all sorts of callers, have delivery men/plumbers etc in and out of the house and am not generally paranoid.

Is it just me?

It's not just you at all. I definitely feel like this.

What I do is make sure all windows and doors are secured when it's still bright and if DH leaves via front door then I lock it after him.

I have a sentence in my head like "my house is safe & secure and it is very unlikely that anyone will try to break in, and if they did try it would be very difficult for them to gain access".

Remember that most household break-ins are opportunistic buggers looking for an open window/back door so they can nick an ipad or something. They also reaaaaally don't want you to be home so keep lots of lights on so it's obvious you're home.
