I think they are just spectacularly unfortunate photos.

If you imagine them in evening dress at fashionable 'arty' venue, laughing, and brandishing a glass of champagne, you'd see them differently.

Having said that though, I was looking at the photos of the guy who caused a fuss by insulting people in Singapore, and to my shame I did think that money was his most attractive feature .
