AIBU to think that in pointless...

If they get more than one pointless answer on the final they should get an extra £1000 for each answer?

Last night they had 3 pointless answers but got the same jackpot as if they'd got one. I think they should get a bit more!

(aware this is the most (ironically) pointless thread! Just pondering!)

YABU to spell Pointless with a small "p"
However, I have said many times that they should get 2 or 3x the jackpot if that situation arises.
Only time I managed to get 3 pointless answers was on Ancient Rome (not that anyone cares - not even me, as I was sitting in my living room)
I also think they should have a competition, text a pointless answer in the final round to stand a chance of winning £1000

CrohnicallyFarting · 23/01/2014 18:01

I often thought they could spice things up, if they got a pointless answer on the first or second go, they could do double or nothing, gamble on there being another pointless answer!

But it seems a shame that they don't get extra money when if they had got pointless answers earlier in the quiz they would. A £1000 bonus for each extra pointless answer would be good so YANBU.

cogitosum · 23/01/2014 18:02

Sorry - on phone and can't be arsed capitalizing (or correcting American spellcheck)

I got 3 pointless answers last night in the spice girls one - oh dear!

Or even £500 so it adds to the jackpot like the rest of the show.

I wouldn't want to mess with the format too much as I think it is magnificent as it is!

Dh got 4 pointless final questions tonight. (But yet he struggles with the washing machines)

WitchWay · 23/01/2014 18:16

Agree, I've thought this - even an extra £250 like the pointless earlier answers would be better than nothing.

Marylou62 · 23/01/2014 18:46

Pointless was on for ages and I didn't get it at all...then one day tv remote was lost and I couldn't be bothered to get up to change channel...now am addicted! And yes, I sometimes feel quite disappointed for winners (even with only one pointless answer) who only get £1000.

Financeprincess · 23/01/2014 20:27

I agree. Felt quite sorry for Brummie Lion-o and his mate last night, only getting £3,500 between them!

I thought the subject might have been, "why do people go on quiz programmes when they don't know anything?". I might have to start that thread myself.

HotPanda · 23/01/2014 20:31

I love Pointless. It does annoy me though that there are are so many rounds where there isn't even a pointless answer to get - I've seen a whole show where there hasn't been one til the last round, so not a chance to up the jackpot. Seems unfair.

cardibach · 23/01/2014 21:36

I know Tom from that team. Just saying.

cogitosum · 23/01/2014 22:16

Hotpanda that would be particularly annoying on a day after it's been won so only £1000 (I say only I'd love £1000!)

Pointless Celebrities is pure genius.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 23/01/2014 23:38

I think they should get the jackpot amount for each pointless answer they get in the final. So double for two and triple for three.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 23/01/2014 23:46

Oh, I liked Tom. He was great.

I think that they should change the rules so that they give me £250 if I get a pointless answer at home.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 24/01/2014 00:11

I love when Richard compliments me for getting a Pointless answer at home.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 24/01/2014 00:12

I think you'll find that he was complimenting me, actually...

kreecherlivesupstairs · 24/01/2014 05:34

Just goes to show how wrong you can be. It is me he congratulates.
I was convinved I'd seen him driving along a lane close to where we live. He pulled over and waved me through.
As I got alongside, I realised it wasn't him though Sad

BeckAndCall · 24/01/2014 07:23

Sorry, Richard's talking to me actually :) ( especially on the American presidents question last night!)

I feel really sorry for them when it gets to the final and the jackpot's only £1000. - again! There have been a lot of winners recently. Yes, I say the jackpot for each pointless answer!

My dH would have had two last night on the films. We manage to 'win' between us a couple of times a week ( but we do have the benefit of the 'pause' button!)

ItsATIARA · 24/01/2014 07:34

Hands up who replies "Oh, thank you Richard?" Blush
Sarah Millican's suggested he should add "..and that's a lovely blouse you're wearing today"

How on earth can he still be single?

LineRunner · 24/01/2014 07:38

He's in love with Zander.

MetellaEstMater · 24/01/2014 07:53

It's been a good week in our house for pointless answers in the final. Spice Girls, Euro 96, Jim Broadbent films...

And Xander's been on fire with the one liners. 'If you bring your own trumpet next time.' Grin

thegreylady · 24/01/2014 08:33

Pointless is the best thing on tv atm. I love the interplay between Richard and Xander. I believe Richard has a teenage dd and is separated from her mother. He is available ladies Grin

Mrmonkey · 24/01/2014 08:43

"If you bring your own trumpet next time" was genius! I have noticed that the last few weeks they have been making a lot of jokes at the contestants expense. I love Pointless it's my Dh and I try and catch it everyday.

TiggyOBE · 24/01/2014 09:32

There is definitely an unrequited love thing going on between Richard and Al.

I wonder if there's been any erotic fan fiction written about them?

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 24/01/2014 11:29

I think Richard may be friends with our neighbours -- they were having an outside barbecue at one point and one of their guests looked suspiciously like him (DH and I were "nonchalently" peering out of our window trying to decide). We live in roughly the right area for it to have been him, too.

The programme does really rely on the interplay between Richard and Xander -- you can tell that they've been friends for decades.
