AIBU to be fed up of this?

Sent two invitations to the same people - one message on FB and one text. Had no response to either.
Would you not bother asking again?
Send another message and assume they've forgotten?
I wouldn't mind if they were ditzy people who forget stuff like this, but they're not. And if the situation was reversed they would have the total hump and have no qualms about letting me know it!
I'm fed up of having to invite people multiple times because they can't be arsed to reply!
WWYD?

Ring them?

CeliaFate · 21/01/2014 19:44

I could, but it's the same principle. I've invited them (the message on FB has been seen) why don't they reply? They're not averse to invitations done by text/social media.

It depends on what your normal way of communicating style is.

I'm in a similar situation, it's always me organising weekends away etc. I asked everyone for dates, one friend said she would have to check and let me know. That was a month ago and I haven't bothered chasing her as to me it says it's low down her list of priorities.

What is the invitation for?

CeliaFate · 21/01/2014 19:45

The invitation is to come to our house for a dinner party. There'll be 10 of us altogether, so if they're not coming I need to know for catering.

When is it and did you give a 'reply by' date?

Sallyingforth · 21/01/2014 19:47

Send them notes by the same methods...
"Sorry you couldn't come - perhaps another time."

CeliaFate · 21/01/2014 19:48

I've told them when it is, but not a reply by date. It's for this weekend, so they're cutting it fine!

When I'm invited to things, I always reply even if it's just to say thanks, I'll check and get back to you asap. Good manners, surely!

Completely agree and I wouldn't be chasing them up.

Is it just 2 people out of the 10? Sod's law they will accept at the 11th hour!

CeliaFate · 21/01/2014 19:59

Yes, that's what I thought. Bloody irritating isn't it?

I would just take it that they aren't coming now. If they do happen to reply nearer the time, just say sorry didn't think you were coming so not catered for you. Rude!

JeanSeberg · 21/01/2014 20:05

Yes and this is why I've changed my attitude and am no longer the organiser/chaser. It's liberating!

I know we won't have our girls weekend away this year and it really doesn't bother me.
