About my birthday

It's my birthday Monday, rubbish month for a birthday Angry!

As always went out in the sales and got new shoes, jacket and said that's fine for my birthday. Expect a token gift on Monday, nothing extravagant but something to open.

Came home this evening, after admittedly a shockingly bad day at work. so maybe I am being sensitive?

2 mins after I walked in OH says, well you know what your birthday present is, so I might as well give it too you now (I wanted a new phone cover). I said but I won't have anything to open from you on Monday! He then ranted I had been offish with him all day blah blah (maybe true,no tine to text, stressful day at work) so he wanted to cheer me up, but cheering me up today means nothing on Monday.

I sound like a child, I know birthdays as you get older are not as important, but something small to open from him on the day, would have been nice?

His argument was, but you know what it is!

My argument was but, if I said I want earrings I would know what it is but not what it looked like? Same as a phone cover.

Feeling sorry for myself and it's my first birthday since my mum passed and I don't think that has even occurred to him.

Not gonna be a great weekend.

Really sorry about your mum, must be really hard having your first birthday without her. I don't think you're unreasonable at all, I'd be feeling fed up about the present too. Me and DP don't buy each other Christmas presents, but for birthdays we always get something that's a little surprise to open on the actual day, depending in how money is it could be a big present, our it could just be something a bit silly. Its just nice to know that the other person has thought of something.

Is there any chance your OH has got another surprise to give to you on Monday [clutches at straws]

It's not about the present honestly, it's about the lets get your birthday out of the way! That's what upset me.

I doubt there is another present, I would not want or expect that, it's about the thinking about timing, if that makes sense.

No idea what's going on with my phone sorry Blush

Do you have plans to do anything on Monday, either with your OH or not? If be annoyed if he didn't acknowledge it on the day.

I'd have a big glass of wine and go to bed and then try to talk to him tomorrow about how its made you feel, and then maybe plan something nice to do on Monday if you haven't already got plans.
