Don't Tell the Bride! (lighthearted)

If you are getting married, and you have very strong feelings about where/how you marry, and what you are going to wear, WHY in the name of Zeus and all his little pixies would you sign up to "Don't Tell the Bride", thus delegating all the decision-making to your hapless fiancé?

(I realise they get finance, but still...)

I also realise that this is not exactly a major issue in the larger scheme of things, but I am pretending to do my tax return...

I would quite like to do it and pretend I would hate the kind of wedding I would actually love!

I read somewhere (probably MN) that they try to persuade the groom in to doing the opposite of what the bride wants.

I agree but I'm so glad they do as it's my favourite guilty pleasure!

If it weren't for the fact I'd hate a televised wedding, I could do it easily.

My DP (actually he's my fiancé) isn't 'hapless'. I don't have strong wedding feelings but in any case he'd plan it perfectly because he has a real eye for detail and we know each other's - and our combined - style really well. He's very stylish, elegant, and romantic. He'd hit it out of the park.

Its one of my favourite episodes.

If your fiance would do what you want and has a flair for design then you wouldn't get picked for the program. Its as simple as that.

But I do wonder if they edit it so that the bride's feelings appear stronger than they actually are. Particularly on the bits where they take the bride off to pick out her ideal dress / venue.

I saw an episode once where the groom picked the exact same dress that the bride had wanted. What are the chances?!

The one where the groom takes half her family to Vegas and leaves the rest behind was classic. If I was that woman I would have walked away there and then. All of MN would have told her to LTB.

Closely followed by the guy that sent his bride to be up some kind of rollercoaster in her wedding gown.

I would love to go on it.

I would make up what I wanted for the producers/camera and say I wanted a big white stately home wedding and DP would do a Vegas wedding instead.

But in reality I want the Vegas wedding.

You need to know how to play them.

I particularly enjoy the episodes when the groom forgets about VAT until the last minute...

I'd really love to know how many of the couples are still together - but if the programme over-eggs the drama, it's probably more than you'd think.
