Topic today, 'should anyone claiming a benefit have to sell their big telly?'

Weren't we speaking about this exact thing the other day?

We'll if he starts discussing what women really think about onesies then we will KNOW!

p.s. Just in case you are reading this then FUCK YOU Matthew.

Dollslikeyouandme · 10/01/2014 10:32

In fact AIBU could be a TV show, a cross between the Wright stuff/Loose Women/Jezza Kyle, but better.

MammaTJ · 10/01/2014 10:32

We have been talking about it on here for ages, so maybe a bit slow on the uptake if anything!

GinSoakedMisery · 10/01/2014 10:32

What a ridiculous topic. Big tellys only cost few hundred quid, how will that help you get benefits?

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 10/01/2014 10:33

Onesies? I meant PENISES . FUCKING iPad CUNT.

formerbabe · 10/01/2014 10:33

The flat screen telly stereotype cracks me up. You can only buy flat screens nowadays!

GinSoakedMisery · 10/01/2014 10:33

But on topic, he most likely has a few staff who are MN members purposefully for getting stories for his show.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 10/01/2014 10:34

Tedious twonk.

I think its being going on for years

Dollslikeyouandme · 10/01/2014 10:34

I am very suspicious, I've heard the old 'big telly' over and over but this is a new twist on the old debate.

I'm waiting for him to say in a while 'what if they bought it before on benefits'.

We're onto you Matthew.

I agree former & gin,

It has been suggested by certain posters time and again that people should sell the 154 inch telly/cancel internet/goat if they are on benefits. It's all part of MN Bingo as far as I can tell.

Definitely not new.

LtEveDallas · 10/01/2014 10:42

I posted this on the MNers FB Page (not the official one). Hopefully Matthew's staffers will see it here.

They make a movie about the Great Train Robbery - Biggs dies.
They make a movie about Nelson Mandela - Mandela dies.
Quick! Someone make Matthew Wright movie

Grin
TiggyOBE · 10/01/2014 10:42

He might get ideas of what to talk about from reading Mumsnet, but isn't that just sensible research into the things that the everyday folk are talking about?

And of course, isn't this thread a result of Matthew Wright's programme?

mrsjay · 10/01/2014 10:42

really scraping the bottom of the barrel the wright stuff is the daily mail of telly land Mathew right is a creep

Dollslikeyouandme · 10/01/2014 10:43

Ah I see, perhaps benefit claimants could sell their kids (real not baby goat), they'd make some money plus would need to claim less benefits.

OP posts:
LuisSuarezTeeth · 10/01/2014 10:46

The point they are getting at is that poor people on benefits should not have TVs or any luxury whatsoever if they are taking tax payers money. They should be eating Tesco Value humble pie and being eternally grateful. He's just reinforcing the stereotype, just in case anyone gets ideas about treating people on benefits like human beings.

lollylaughs · 10/01/2014 10:51

Did he do a show on the best drinking apparatus to have on your bedside table? Wink

Theodorous · 10/01/2014 13:04

You can't blame the media. A lot of the responses on Aibu is comedy gold. As long as they don't take the piss out of the genuine people on the relationships thread I don't care.

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 13:07

It is when he hosts a show on millionaires who are so rich they can go out for coffee in one country whilst buying gifts in person in another country that you'll know he is nicking topics.

HoneyDragon · 10/01/2014 13:08

Don't forget Jamie Oliver gave such nonsense a higher profile when he complained that poor people had big Telly's but wouldn't buy organic chicken.

He look I managed to write an entire sentence without calling Jamie Oliver a twat.

Well, nearly.

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 13:11

Honey

Keep the faith. We have not forgotten.

Jamie Oliver is a knob less self control than you

scaevola · 10/01/2014 13:13

I rather thought his researchers known what's coming up, and then start threads to see if MNers produce any good angles.

Sometimes it seems as if BBC Breakfast do the same.

(Awaits item on how the Internet has changed the way the media tackle various issues).

LadyBeagleEyes · 10/01/2014 13:15

Thought Annabelle Giles was brilliant on the subject today. I'd love to see more of her on the telly.

HoneyDragon · 10/01/2014 13:17

I swear she's a Mnetter.
