To use another hairdresser working in the same salon.

I used to go to a hairdressers for years but stopped going there because she wasn't doing my hair properly. Her blowdrys were getting 'lazy' and she cut my hair terribly (it wasn't like this in the beginning)

Anyway, I stopped going there and now go to another salon. The girl there is shite at doing my hair too. Her colleague, on the other hand, is quite good! ( I only know she's good because she took over doing my hair because the other one had another client)

Would it be unreasonable to go to the other one to do my hair instead from now on?

I promise I am not a fuss pot when it comes to my hair. It's just very thick, coarse and very long. It's really not easy to handle my hair but if I'm going to pay someone to do something I want it done reasonably well not to walk out somewhere no better than when I walked in.

Thanks

Why would it better if you let someone else do your hair?

GingerBlondecat · 09/01/2014 11:14

I have no problem swapping to someone that is better with my hair. I want value for money and a gentle touch for my hair to look its best.

I say go for it, Swap away

maddy68 · 09/01/2014 11:16

I've done that. I wouldn't worry about it. I just said hi to the old one when I walked in to avoid the awkwardness

MajesticWhine · 09/01/2014 11:16

I swap hairdressers all the time. I have no loyalty whatsoever. Why on earth would it be unreasonable - you are paying.

DeMaz · 09/01/2014 11:18

Thanks Ginger!

Shabba, the other hairdresser is better at handling my hair. But I only realised that when she had to take over my original hairdresser as she double booked me.

Yanbu, you are paying for it so should feel happy when you leave. You are just a paying client to them, so why not?

Lilacroses · 09/01/2014 12:01

I have been going to the same hairdressers for a good few years. I change to someone else if my own hairdresser is unavailable. I couldn't face doing that permanently because I've been going there so long so if I had a problem I would change salons. However, if I hadn't been going there very long I would happily change.

newyearhere · 09/01/2014 12:09

YANBU. You're a paying customer and of course it's fine to decide which hairdresser you'd like.

Doobiedoobedoobie · 09/01/2014 12:11

Is there a day that your old hairdresser doesn't work that the new hairdresser does? I'd probably book in on that day

SkinnybitchWannabe · 09/01/2014 12:13

Yanbu I've done it.
After a disastrous cut by my ex hairdresser I changed to a different salon.
I then changed to my current fantastic one after 'trying out' and paying his over priced prices the owner of the salon

Twoandtwohalves · 09/01/2014 12:17

I've had this awkwardness. My old stylist did my hair for about 8 years then started going AWOL and missing appts. I really liked the girl who took over and when she moved to another salon I followed her.

My original hairdresser then turned up at her next salon but one. I was embarrassed but thought hey, he let me down. When new hairdresser went on an extended break I thought I angsted for ages thinking I should probably use him in the interim. I called to book and phew he had moved on.

Go for it. I will not be such a wimp again.

DeMaz · 09/01/2014 14:25

Thanks very much ladies! Glad I'm not being unreasonable!

I couldn't do it at my other salon as I was there for years but I'd only started with this one about two months ago so felt easier to change.

Doobie, she doesn't work on Mondays which is really not great for me.

Twoandtwohalves, I would've been embarrassed too and it could be a possibility for me as both these salons are on the same street!! Fingers crossed it won't happen.

Thanks again all.
