To find the channel 4 "benefits" shows extremely goady?

With that benefits street program on tonight, "skint" and "benefits Britain" I think? Also the one with the disabled woman with the long nails refusing to work, benefits 1949 maybe?

Why do they pick out the worst examples of people on benefits to use on these shows? Seems like they're trying to whip up mass hysteria, DM style!

They're the Daily Mail channel IMO.

ArgyMargy · 06/01/2014 18:18

Hmmm. Have you just discovered what drives the media??

DixieGoesToHollywood · 06/01/2014 18:20

I don't recall other channels doing this though?

I don't know - how about the BBC classic 'The Romarians are coming'
They also had a series on benefits with also dodgy names.

Yanbu

SkinnybitchWannabe · 06/01/2014 18:31

I won't watch it.

Argh Channel fucking 4!

Did you see that recent programme 'karaoke nights'?

According to them, 1 in 5 people in the town I live in are 'on benefits' and the only thing we look forward to is karaoke on a Thursday. We are all foul mouthed drunks apparently Hmm

They also chose, out of 30 different pubs in the town, the 2 worse ones with a notorious reputation.

There has been uproar in the local papers and also our MP has written to channel 4.

Twats!

channel five are pretty tacky! they did one showing Huddersfield I n not such a good light..which is a shame as it has a lot of heart and soul.Smile Smile

I work there and have seen the first episode, it's quite good

Nancy66 · 06/01/2014 19:24

Skint was a huge ratings draw so this was commissioned off the back of it.
Good ratings + cheap to make = manna from heaven for TV execs

HotDogHotDogHotDiggityDog · 06/01/2014 19:29

In my town Benchmark?

Heartbrokenmum73 · 06/01/2014 19:32

Remember when Ch4 used to be quite cutting edge and leading the way? When they used to show The Comic Strip Presents?

What the fuck happened to that channel? I lost all respect for them when they commissioned a second series of Big Brother - first series was a social experiment (maybe), no need for anymore dancing showoffs monkeys.
