to wish that NYE was in February?

I just think that my new year's resolutions would stand more of a chance in March than January! More daylight, better weather and less chance of still having Christmas goodies such as cake and chocolate around the house.
as it is, whilst my head knows that less chocolate and more exercise would lead to a new and improved deeply baffled, the rest of me is slumped on the sofa, thinking...yes...maybe later...
so AIBU to think that society has it all wrong and that the baffled calendar should be adopted forthwith?

It did actually used to be in Feb - I was reading a thread on another forum about it the other day.

I'll dig out the link.

Couldn't find the forum link, but found the bit in wikipedia Roman Calendar year.

So New Years Day would have been 1st March. That's why the months are out of whack for September, October, etc.

You must have some Roman blood in you Wink

YANBU to want carbs and stuff in Jan - just make the resolution and 'defer' it until mid or end of February. Job done Wink

Nice to know I'm in touch with my inner roman:)
Deferred resolutions sound good, or maybe I could get even more culturally varied and have another go in honour of Chinese New Year...

Yes I'm with you. I've been in hospital all of this January and it's not likely I'll be set free anytime soon! Sort it out world, let's start again in February please!

10th January is the most common day for people their NY resolutions. I learned that in church this morning so it must be true Wink

Yes, you definitely have a point, OP - especially with the increased daylight in February. There is a big difference in the length of the day from the beginning, to the end, of January and we all need light to feel energetic and purposeful. January is for hibernation!

I had been thinking the same thing, you still have the choccies n alcohol left over from Xmas n so you scoff the lot before Jan comes. Rather than have a little and often approach to it.

Although I'm on a kick start over the last couple of days, it's just simple stuff like water during the day rather than tea or fizzy drinks and getting off a stop earlier and the stricter health plan more toward Feb. When I'm not in such an emotional lull.
