To think sheldon would have pre booked the seats?

Was watching BBT recorded drom last nights E4 and it was the episode where they take the train to san francisco. When they get on sheldon goes into a whole speech about why they must sit on a particular seat and on a particular side of the trai .

Surely sheldon being sheldon would have pre booked their or at least his own seat?

YANBU. I've decided that you obviously can't book the seats in advance.

Love BBT Grin

FredFredGeorge · 03/01/2014 18:56

I don't believe you can book seats in Amtrak...

Chippednailvarnish · 03/01/2014 19:06

I'm in love with Sheldon Blush

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 03/01/2014 19:08

Ahh! No pre booking available. Yes that would explain it. Hadnt thought of that.clearly not 'sheldon' smart Grin

Ooooo, plot holes!

Nanny0gg · 03/01/2014 19:19

Ah - same episode-

Sheldon cataloguing his socks, which are obviously all the same - surely he wouldn't have typed in each pair? Whatever database/spreadsheet he was using would have allowed him to copy/repeat, surely?

scaevola · 03/01/2014 19:25

Loads of plot holes!

The (allegedly) non-dancing Sheldon is seen dancing more than once (pus admits to hoe-downs and cotillions in his youth).

And the "I'm making a mess" Penny in the jewellery-making episode, is the same Penny who competently devised and made Penny Blossoms.

And if Sheldon had an identical memory, he did he forget a Catwoman? Or ignore Penny's 2 year live-in when calculating her number of men?

Wellthen · 03/01/2014 20:46

Hoe downs and cotillions would have been 'non-optional social conventions' in Texas. Dancing otherwise? Well 'What is life without a little whimsy?'

I don't think an idetic memory means you literally remember everything all the time, simply that you can easily remember things when required. So if he were asked 'recall every cat woman in order' he could, but when listing his favourites he simply recalls ones he really likes. Penny living with the ex didn't happen while he knew her and he doesn't really care much about Penny.

The Penny being no good with a hot glue gun I can't explain.

I may be overthinking this... Smile
However, I am not completely faithful to BBT. Their recent scene stealing from friends has irritated me. I worry they are running out of ideas and it will either get shit or get cancelled.

scaevola · 03/01/2014 21:11

He said: "Oh, I forgot about Lee Meriwether"

But Sheldon doesn't forget!

And he definitely knew about about the boyfriend - he lost his pants and his mother had bought them for him.

SantanaLopez · 03/01/2014 21:15

I think Penny only made 1 penny blossom and then the guys swooped in and took over, so she didn't have the chance to make a mess.

AmIthatTinselly · 03/01/2014 21:16

What were the scenes stolen from Friends?

scaevola · 03/01/2014 21:20

Penny Blosson episode was one of the ones repeated tonight.

She'd sold several to fellow waitresses and had some in a shop before needed to buy more rhinestones, Sheldon passed on (and made her sign for) the parcel he'd taken in, and quizzed her on her business processes before he went hands on in making one. Then she was making them alongside the geeks, and wasn't making a mess!

ThursdayLast · 03/01/2014 21:24

Tinselly, I think the scene revered to was a recent one where Penny thought she wasn't romantic. So she pulled out a memory box of sentimental things re Leonard.

PURE Ross and. Rachel. In fact, it may even have been the same bloody dialogue!

ThursdayLast · 03/01/2014 21:24

WellThen, is that the scene you meant?

Wellthen · 03/01/2014 21:33

Yes exactly that Thursday. I was also thinking of one where X wouldn't marry Y if he didn't promise to stop seeing Z and then I remembered that was How I met your mother, not BBT.

scaevola yes I know he knew about the bf but he may not have known the extent of their relationship. I just don't think its a fact that would stick in Sheldon's head. But I take your point. I have also watched episodes and thought 'this just doesn't fit with Sheldon's character' but I now cant for the life of me think which ones!

Cakesorpies · 03/01/2014 22:55

I often think this too. I guess they are constantly building on his character as they go on.
In the pilot episode Sheldon and Leonard are at a sperm bank thinking about donating. In a later episode Sheldon dismissed Amy's suggestion of massaging his own shoulder as 'too much bodily contact'.
Love BBT and Sheldon but also love finding plot holes!

Wellthen · 04/01/2014 11:54

Yes! Although that is quite common that pilots are different. In the same episode he refers to 'women we would like to see naked' but in later episodes he is established as seemingly asexual.

Loving all this- it does spoil the magic of sheldon a bit but i love spotting plot holes.

I think my favourite ever sheldon line has to be "we're taking the train" Grin

In everybody loves raymond pilot one of the twins had a different name- think it was matthew instead of geoffrey.

Eidetic memory means that he has a photographic memory. He needs to have seen it written down, or printed in some format for it to remain there. So, with regard to both Penny and Catwoman, reasonably easy to forget as a) not necessarily written down, and b) unimportant in Sheldon's world. So, he can and does forget.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 04/01/2014 14:43

Thats what i thought it meant too dawndonna, have similar abilities if i havent seen it it might aswell not exist Grin

SauvignonBlanche · 04/01/2014 14:57

If pre-booking were possible he would have done so.
