to the couple who hosted us for NYE? The food was amazing and their hospitality was lovely.

They only live in the next village and whilst of course we said thank you a lot when saying good bye, I just feel it's not enough. They put so much effort into the evening.

They're a bit older than us and quite proper so perhaps a note in the post would be the right thing to do?

Or am I overdoing it? We took champagne, magnum of lovely wine, fruit cake and amaretto biscotti.

Lucky you!

No, I think a short note would be fine.

Do ! I know I love happy post.

I bet they put it up and smile whenever they walk past it for the next few weeks.

And you will get invited again providing you didn't puke in their begonias

Note or card, definitely do it.

stephenisjustcoming · 01/01/2014 19:43

Definitely - what a lovely thought. It's a quick and easy thing to do, and really makes a host feel appreciated.

It will also put you top of the guest list for next year

I always text to say what a lovely time we had so a note is completely appropriate and will be gladly received.

I always send a thank you note when we have been to someone's house for lunch/supper/whatever.

And we always take gifts for the host too on the evening.

It is so lovely to send a written note of thanks; so few people bother to do so these days that it will be hugely appreciated. Good for youSmile

Yes do it. It's polite and will be appreciated.
