I'm away for the Christmas period working for the family I Nanny for at the weekend. We are staying in a mansion/log cabin on the top of a mountain - very very secluded.

On the first night, I heard very light knocking in my room. Quite distinctive as knocking - like one of the kids wanted me. But the kids are on the opposite side of the house and there was no one around. This happened twice (early morning) but I was so tired I didn't think much of it.

The next morning it turned out that everyone in the House had heard the three light knocks at least once in the night.

I checked outside all the windows and there were recent animal prints (think Elk and Bear) and human foot prints circling the house. no one in our group had been outside at all and the prints didn't match anyone's shoes.

Second night, three light knocks again in the dead of night. Everyone heard them at different times.

Third night (last night) the knocks happened again and the four year old boy I look after starts talking about the "blood man" that only he can see being in the House Shock he keeps singing songs about the Blood Man.

AIBU in thinking that we're living some crazy horror film?

OP, you haven't answered the questions about the footprints. Where did they lead....into the house or elsewhere?

Don't know where the footprints led. They weren't from the house though. The first prints from the exits were mine.

Ah..yes daddypig..i had op pegged as the killer...dh has the whole thing neatly sewn up as overactive imagination fuelled with love of scary stories..almost certainly animals/plumbing/wood creaking or all 3. There again he has always shown no fear in the face of ghosts whereas i cower under the sheets wondering if i can hold out until daylight for a wee.

I'm in the observatory at the moment - there's woods either side of the house. There is a single track of prints leading from the woods to the house but I can't see what kind they are from here.

you seem very calm, OP. I would be absolutely crapping my pants less calm than you seem to be. Those footprints are a very bad sign.

I suppose there is a fair chance it was Santa..the animal prints were reindeer and the 'blood man' refers to red costume. Mystery solved..off for a cup of tea!

Holy cow OP, you can see a set of prints coming up to the house? Is this a fresh coating of snow or same stuff as the prints were in that you found already?
I'd defiantly sleep in with the kids (kick the 4 yo out)
So many rules, no red shirt, no busty blonds, no going in the basement or attic, hold onto car keys, don't answer the phone, don't go into the woods, what else?
