that the tooth fairy had gone on strike?

Daily Mail link, who else would write the bloody 'story'

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2530765/Schoolgirl-9-receives-letter-David-Cameron-pleading-return-tooth-fairys-pension-parents-said-Government-taken-away.html

Am I right in thinking this is just odd?

Its the daily mail. Nothing surprises me

AgentZigzag · 30/12/2013 01:41

I quite like downing street's reply Grin (and that they'd made a typo putting tooth fairy as one word Grin)

Surely the parents must have been 'joking' between themselves and it was just a remark, she can't believe in the tooth fairy at 9 can she?

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 30/12/2013 01:45

I thought that, at 9 she's old enough to know the tooth fairy isn't real. I don't know any kid at that age who still believes.

Parents like this annoy me, write to the daily maily with non-news and slap pictures of their children all over the show.

You'd think they'd have saved her the bother and shoved a quid under her pillow tight sods

She's a pretty little girl and it's sweet Downing Street took the time to reply but she surely can't still believe in the tooth fairy at 7?

I hope she doesn't get teased at school.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 30/12/2013 01:57

I hope not either caitlin. Kids pick up on anything these days.

Grin that's brilliant! The dad was probably trying to cover up that they forgot.

Mum once told my little sister that the tooth fairy had crashed and hurt her wing to explain why she was late, also tooth fairies can't fly in bad weather, get ill, refuse to enter mess bedrooms and are overworked... this is because I'm one of 8 kids and mum has the memory of a goldfish so the tooth fairy often forgot to come to our house

MrsMook · 30/12/2013 03:08

The tooth fairy still visits 10yr olds, even on Brownie pack holiday. She was thrilled! (and a very sensible, mature girl too).

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 30/12/2013 03:38

All the children I know under 11 still believe in the tooth fairy.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 30/12/2013 03:42

I'd personally pretend to carry on so I could still get the cash Grin

Danann · 30/12/2013 03:45

Grin exactly, this is why my 14 year old brother left out a mince pie for Father Christmas, coz if mum thinks you still believe then you still get an extra present.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 30/12/2013 03:46

Haha sneaky but clever!

I didnt believe in the toothfairy for ages before i told my mum. I thought she would stop giving me money if i admitted i knew it was her. No idea why.

Anyway, yanbu. If youd forgotten to out the money there, surely youd just say toothfairy had gone on holiday/was sick and do it the next night.

BohemianGirl · 30/12/2013 04:47

Eww look at the dirty grubby chewed off nail polish on the fingers.

WooWooOwl · 30/12/2013 07:49

If my 9yo couldn't remember to use capital letters for their own name, there is no way I'd be proudly broadcasting that in the national press.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 30/12/2013 07:59
Grin

Yeah whatever! Don't think there is much truth in the child taking the decision to write the letter herself; still believes in the tooth fairy but has the intelligence to question the government's intention to cut pensions? Hmm.

Some parents will do anything to get their kids into the spotlight. And btw, that letter is not really a response is it? Of course, it's a 'response' but basically says 'WTF? We have better things to do and Cameron hasn't even looked at this'.

pixiepotter · 30/12/2013 12:05

She looks much older than 9.

somethingchristmassy · 30/12/2013 12:36

I don't believe the child took it upon herself to do this either, but honestly had no idea that any children anywhere actually believe the tooth fairy is real. Good thing I found out before accidentally letting someone's child know...
