... Specifically when the narrator explains at the beginning of each episode that if an heir can't be found, then the money will revert back to the government, shock horror! That will be the government coffers that fund the hospitals, transport system, social care that the deceased used all their life and probably more so at the end, seeing that they didn't have any family around. Oh what a terrible thing it would be if the money went to the state to help other elderly sick people, when it could go to a random individual who never met the deceased or knew they existed. Grrrrrr.

I think you need to calm down.
Who says it's terrible if the money goes to the treasury in the event of no relatives being found?

I love Heirhunters - that would be my ideal job.

No-one should die intestate, absolutely no need for it

Shorty1980 · 16/12/2013 10:43

That's very much the implication Tara. Oh I definitely need to calm down, but I do enjoy a mid morning television rant. And in seriousness, I think the program reflects an awful attitude towards 'the government' as some terrible distinct entity as opposed to all of us. Rant over, carry on as normal Smile

I would prefer the money to go to the government rather than the heir hunting companies taking their 40% cut.

Shorty1980 · 16/12/2013 10:45

Bohemian girl it's sad isn't it, I don't think I could do the job or I would spend all day crying about all the Eleanor Rigby types.

I think it better it goes to the families.

I'd be fucked off if even a very distant relative didn't get it!

The Government wastes too much money as it is.

StickyProblem · 16/12/2013 10:49

My SIL loves that show, I tried it once and it really upset me. Completely agree OP, they make it sound as though the government deserves the money less than the random rellie.

We just had a near miss, DP got a call from a firm working for his gran's brother, but just as we'd decided they looked genuine and got all excited, they found some other random rellies that were higher up the food chain.
