To be really angry with party venue

Ds1 had his birthday party today. He has severe allergies to milk and egg so when we booked the party we asked would the food be suitable for him and were told that it would be.

When we had to confirm numbers etc a week ago dh asked again about the food and if what ds had chosen for his lunch def had no milk or egg in and we were told again that yes it was fine for him and that we could check all packaging etc on the day.

It got to the meal time today and we asked to see the ingredients and were told that the packets did not have any on, we then were shown a booklet that only gave cooking instructions and the 'chef' said he thought what ds had chosen did in fact contain milk and eggs????

Weaskedagain about seeing the packaging and they said again that no ingredients were listed. Then we said fine, ds will just have chips, are they cooked on their own, to which they replied no and as the nuggets contain milk in the batter there would be cross contamination.

Ds was so upset, he couldn't eat lunch with his friends and we had to get him a packet of crisps. If I had known I'd have taken food for him but they assured us on the phone he could eat there Sad

We complained and they didn't charge us for ds1 but I am so angry.

I think you should ask for a full refund for the party as they are in breach of contract.

You made it clear on numerous occasions that the party was subject to milk and egg free food being provided. You clearly wouldn't have booked it had they been honest in the beginning.

Write a letter explaining everything and ask for a refund and compensation for ruining the birthday party.

I just can't believe the bit about " no ingredients listed" surely by law food HAS to have ingredients???

Poor ds sat there with a bag of crisps, there was nothing else he could eat, dh ran next door as there were two restaurants either side but they only did pizzas to take away Sad

I'd be complaining about this.

YANBU. At the very least they should have offered to make him something without milk or egg even if it was a ham salad with crisps on teh side. I would make a complaint if I were you. They wrecked his party after plenty of warnings.

Its not that hard to deal with those allergies. We had someone at DD's party with an allergy to dairy, egg and nuts and her mum forgot to bring food for her. I still managed to come up with a platefull of food in the midst of running a party for 30 and the venue should ahve been able to manage it to especially with lots of warning as they had.
