Being made to feel guilty

Staying with DParents tonight, they have heat on and stove on. Told them it's too hot for ds, his eczema will play up. Lo and behold he started scratching shortly after. DFather opened windows and went out to turn off heat. While he was out DM told me I should have said nothing. So I'm sitting here feeling like shit now. Also I'm 8 months pregnant so it's way too hot for me too. So WIBU? Do I deserve to feel like crap now?

Just ignore them - if they're happy for your son to be uncomfortable and sore then they can't care that much about him. Why should you care about her opinion?
Stop feeling crap, right now!

Hermione123 · 13/12/2013 21:24

On what basis should you have said nothing according to your DM? Yanbu...

RenterNomad · 13/12/2013 22:23

Why should you have said nothing? She should have said nothing, but it seems she doesn't mind looking selfish enough to make a child potentially really bloody uncomfortable.

Hope your DS is feeling better.

ZoeZoeZoe · 14/12/2013 00:58

YANBU to ask for heat to be turned down, esp for reasons given (Separately, I assume you asked in a reasonable way, of course)

Wondering if temperature is a bit of an issue with your parents and your DM fears (and I hope that I mean that not literally) repercussions, or that it will seem like you are conspiring...

AgentZigzag · 14/12/2013 01:02

Why would your mum stir things up tell you that?

Is he going to sulk or take it out on her?

Even if he was there's no reason to make you feel like crap.

I was absolutely boiling when I was 8 months pregnant in December, they're your parents, why wouldn't you say you were uncomfortably hot??

CooEeeEldridge · 14/12/2013 01:07

Why are you there? Why not leave it's ridiculously hot? V silly to feel guilty, just go home. Cannot understand why you'd feel actual guilt commenting on a temperature?!

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 14/12/2013 01:12
Confused

Feel guilty about what? Are they suffering for having the heat off now?

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 14/12/2013 01:28

as form now on I really don't give a shit about other people, i refuse to feel guilty.

you are hot, your son is not comfortable and i will say dont fell guilty about ensuring your son is not having a flare up.

ZillionChocolate · 14/12/2013 08:51

If they're hosts, they should want to make you comfortable. YANBU
