BakerStreetSaxRift · 13/12/2013 17:38

I'm on a bus home from work, I hate buses at the best of times but the first bus was late and I missed the train .

A guy has got on with me and sat beside me and he STINKS of weed. He was smoking it before he got no but I assumed it was a normal cigarette.

I've got my face buried in my scarf or I'll vom, but WIBU to tell him to fuck the fuck off kindly go and sit somewhere else?

Sad

I think he's German or polish from his phone conversation so I'm hoping he can't read my slightly tilted away phone Grin He probably can and is breathing more on me on purpose.

Oh this JUST happened to me! I got the bus with my DDs from school which is in a tiny rural village in the heart of Cheshire...and a man was slumped at the back behind us and ten mins into the journey he lit a spliff!

if bloody STANK and I got the DDs to the front of the bus and said nowt as he looked like an unbalanced type. Sad

pumpkinsweetie · 13/12/2013 17:41

I wouldn't say anything incase he is high, but i would get up and find another seat.

MrsUptight · 13/12/2013 17:43

It's shite that we can't speak up though. I was even too scared to tell the driver as we got off incase the driver kicked him off and he followed us.

LuciusMalfoyisSmokingHot · 13/12/2013 17:48

Weed always stinks like BO, its disgusting.

BakerStreetSaxRift · 13/12/2013 17:48

Good point, he might stab me.

It's so rude though! I mean, do whatever you fancy in your own house, but don't inflict it on anyone else!

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 13/12/2013 17:49

You can't tell people to move seat just because you don't like the way they smell.

If you think he stinks then obviously you should move.

BakerStreetSaxRift · 13/12/2013 17:50

MrsU, that's bad, especially with your DD.

OP posts:
BakerStreetSaxRift · 13/12/2013 17:52

I know Worra but he smells of weed, not just normal smells. And I'm on the inside, with my face pressed against the bogin window.

OP posts:
BakerStreetSaxRift · 13/12/2013 17:56

I moved them got off a stop early to get some fresh smoggy air!

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 13/12/2013 17:56

Yes but I think you need to separate the fact it's something illegal that he smoked and the fact that you don't like it.

If I were sat next to someone with overpowering perfume (and I have many a time) I've had to move.

I wouldn't dare order them out of their seat.

Just because it's weed and not perfume/stale garlic/piss/other vile smell, doesn't really change that imo.

You still need to move to another seat.

WorraLiberty · 13/12/2013 17:57

Oh, X posted...at least you're sorted now Grin

EdithWeston · 13/12/2013 18:00

I was next to someone who stank of shit earlier this week (I mean really rank, not wiped stink).

Sometimes you just have to move. It doesn't really matter what causes the smell you find unbearable. If you're near the vom point, get away from it.

Tailtwister · 13/12/2013 18:02

I would just get up and move OP or get off and get on the next bus.

I was on a bus from Glasgow to Swansea years ago and a guy came and sat beside me on a near empty bus and lit up (it was in the days you could smoke (tobacco) on buses. He offered me some and when I declined he asked me if I would rather he moved. I just said that yes, I would and he did, no problem. I was rather glad it happened at the start of the journey and I wasn't trapped next to him for 10+hrs!

EdithWeston · 13/12/2013 18:02

Oops, I was slow posting and the thread moved on Xmas Blush

Glad you're clear of the noxious effluvium. And the extra exercise is good for you!

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 13/12/2013 18:05

Glad you're sorted - I sat behind someone smoking weed on a bus in London once and when I told my friend (sadly also very much into his pot), he claimed the fellow was being anti-social by not sharing Xmas Hmm.

So not only did he stink, he didn't offer you any, so just as well that he scarpered!

Branleuse · 13/12/2013 18:09

move if it offends you. Its not going to kill you.

You could even say to him, you stink of weed, i need to move

stooshe · 13/12/2013 18:14

Audible gasp at Edith Weston! Big , dutty laugh at " not wiped stink."! I love MN!

stooshe · 13/12/2013 18:16

Op , you have to get up. You can't even take the chance of giving side eye. The THC in the weed might make him touchy (especially if it is skunk weed, which I bet it is).

NewtRipley · 13/12/2013 18:17

It was probably skunk

TinselBankWadger · 13/12/2013 18:23

It's so rude though! I mean, do whatever you fancy in your own house, but don't inflict it on anyone else!

I get the bus a lot and often find myself being suffocated normal cigarette fumes, yet if I said that ^^ about people smoking tobacco in public I wold be utterly flamed. It's not bloody fair because tobacco is so much more common than weed, yet despite the fact it has a big radius of affect only weed is allowed to be complained about.

That said I would have changed seats or got got off the bus early too.

crazynanna · 13/12/2013 18:25

You want to get on my early bus to work. It consistently smells of a mixture of old alcohol, red bull and farts Hmm

Rissolesfortea · 13/12/2013 18:30

Many years ago I did agency work in a factory, because of the early start and the rural location we had a mini bus supplied to take us to work. I was the only female on the bus, all the others were young men and they ALL smoked weed. By the time I got to work I was high as a kite!

I left after a week.

BakerStreetSaxRift · 13/12/2013 18:43

Tinsel, I think it about tobacco smokers too. I've been known to sit with my scarf wrapped round my face when sat beside, what can only be, a really heavy smoker that must keep half-smoked cigarettes in their pocket and never wash.

So inconsiderate.

And no it won't kill me, but I can be drug-tested at any time in work, and I would never want these to be even a trace of it in me it that happened.

Disclaimer: I don't know how much you'd need to be around it to show up in test results.

OP posts:
AmberLeaf · 13/12/2013 19:59

You wouldn't test positive from sitting next to someone who had smoked weed.

Its the stinking, dirty armpit and rank hungry morning breath yawners that make me heave.

Shower, use deodorant, eat breakfast and brush teeth before you leave the house people!
