To consider cancelling vist 'cause of work?

Let's keep this as brief as possible!

I'm meant to visit a friend tomorrow and stay over night. As I freelance, sometimes the payments on my invoices lag behind a little, although I've never had trouble with people not paying.

Here's the issue. I was anticipating invoices for a couple of bits of work to paid this week, so I have been merrily Xmas shopping and have ordered my leg of lamb etc.

Now someone has offered me a job which would involve working over the weekend. I'm now torn, as I hate turning anything down. Freelancing for me seems to be a feast and famine cycle.

I really want to see my friend, but feel irresponsible if I turn a job down.

I would take the job, because you don't know when another one might come along.

Explain to friend and reschedule. Good friend won't mind.

I'm a bit confused...what does the shopping and leg of lamb have to do with visiting your friend?

I think it depends on the friend, how long it's been booked for, whether she'll gave spent money preparing for your visit etc.

Why not just rating her and see what she says?

Sorry ballstiot, that came out all garbled! My point is that I was expecting a couple of invoices to have cleared, so spanked money and money is tight until my other payments come through.

I do think good friends are priceless though. DP says it would be terribly rude to cancel and I can always find something else.

A good friend would understand. I think financial solvency comes first in this particular scenario.

i wouldn't cancel a weekend visit just before christmas. he/she would have turned down other plans to see you.
