To ask for help with my light bulbs?

I have recessed halogen bulbs in my kitchen.

Googling how to remove them came up with the following suggestions:
Use a suction cup on the glass surface to press and turn the bulb to remove it. We can't do this as there is no glass surface.
Or remove a plastic holding ring so that the bulb comes out of the recess, then you can undo the wires. But we can't do this as there is no plastic holding ring visible.

Please help! I am now down to 2 working spotlights in the kitchen and I can't see well enough to do the washing up (as my shadow falls across the sink).

Could you post a photo on your profile? Hard to help without more details Grin

Unless are there little metal wires around the edge of the inner bit? I had some you had to squeeze the ends together to release the bulb

I think I have saved a photo on my profile, it's poor quality though as it's dim in here!

The bulb looks like a regular halogen one, but there is no glass front, I can touch the bulb and the silver part directly.

I can't see or feel any metal wires anywhere.

Unless I've misunderstood, doesn't it mean use the suction cup on the glass of the bulb? That's what ours are like, you stick the sucker to the glass on the bulb and twist it out.

CrohnicallySick · 12/12/2013 20:17

Omg I just did it! You can pull the whole spotlight part out with the bulb in! Now if only I knew where I put the new bulbs...

Bubble sausage- I think you have misunderstood. When I say the bulb, I mean the actual tiny little thing inside that emits the light. Most halogen spot lights have a flat glass front over the whole cup part. These don't, you can put your fingers inside the cup. (See pic 2)

But it's OK now anyway. Just thought I'd clear that up in case any one else is struggling with the same kind of bulbs.

What size are the bulbs? GU10? We have recessed bulbs in the bedroom and there's a retaining clip that you squeeze the spring together to release the bulb

Photos don't work properly, must be because I'm on an ipad.
