"But Mum, if he knows when you are sleeping, knows when you are awake AND whether you have been bad or good then why would you need to write down a Christmas list, surely if he knows so much about me then he knows what I want???"

Being awake or asleep and bad or good can be observed from the outside. Knowing what you want is in your head so you still need to tell him what you want Xmas Smile

Ballbags. I should have thought of that

Have been practising on an over-crusious 5 year old!

So your thoughts can be as naughty as you like, and Santa won't be any the wiser! Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

(Now let's wait for the kids to ask about those NSPCC posters displayed prominently on the Underground, which begin: "You'd better watch out, you'd better not cry...")

Ask him if he really wants to take the risk.

I'd have just told him the truth to save anymore irritating questions Grin - that'll serve him right for being such a smarty pants!

Sounds like my 5 year old

"mummy, I want Santa to bring me an iPad"
"no they're too expensive"
"but santa doesn't ahem to pay, he makes it"
"but he has to pay for the parts"
"no he doesn't the elves make everything"

The answer stayed no, but I was running out of reasons........

I was outwitted by a chicken once Xmas Blush

MammaTJ · 13/12/2013 21:25

thegrauand, my DD was telling me it didn't matter that everything on her list was expensive because Santa makes and brings it all.

I told her that Santa brings it, but Mummy and Daddy obviously have to pay for it, because otherwise all the poor children in the world would have to do is ask for money, then they wouldn't be poor anymore.

You can't just leave it at that! Grin
