This book has been talked about here many a time - many of us have registered our disgust that Amazon continue to list it and promote it, and to ask that they follow the lead of responsible retailers like Waterstones. This tends to provoke accusations of censorhip / banning.
Obviously you can all make your own minds up, but i'm so pleased the BBC have decided to cover this story and i for one hope it adds weight to the pressure on amazon to take it off their sites.

I heard an interview on 5 live about a month ago with the author. It seems to come up every so often in media (book been around for years I think? Not checked). Author generally enjoys all publicity and apparently sees a spike in sales when he does bbc interviews. He also comes across better than you'd probably expect.

thats true - 650,000 copies sold is worrying.
i should imagine they come across very well indeed, afterall no-one wants to believe they are buying something unreasonable or cruel. this is why its so pervasive, and also why big brands backing the titles add to its perceived legitimacy.
i guess i'm pleased that the most widely consumed media in the world is highlighting the methods and story. It adds legitimacy to the people who object to it being promoted in regular sales channels.
