Secret Santa related-to be disappointed

We had our department team meeting today. It was secret santa day too. I have always bought colleagues a small edible gift ever since I have worked there. So I gave EVERYONE a lovingly wrapped gift and put in my additional secret santa gift too.

Our boss as is traditional puts on a santa hat and gives out the gifts. Before doing so he warns that "some people" may not get a gift as "other people" had forgotten it was today. You guessed it, yes it was me that did not get a gift. I was the only one not to and because I gave out the edible gifts I did not even have one of them as a consolation. I know the boss forgot and I am not that bothered but I am a bit meh

The person who organises SS where I work (small SEN secondary school) keeps a list of who has who to name and shame those who "forget" after too many "accidents" in previous years.

Rosa · 09/12/2013 21:14

I hope you get a decent present tomorrow and the person who forgot apologises!!!!

ThingsThatMakeYouGoHmmmmmmmmm · 09/12/2013 21:22

Could be worse. You could be a bloke, who got his SS. Those elephant trunk thongs are sooooooooooooo hilarious.

ImperialBlether · 09/12/2013 21:33

Did the person who forgot get a present? I always think they shouldn't and that the presents should be sorted out so that his present goes to the one who's remembered, rather than the one who's forgotten.

mummydarkling · 09/12/2013 21:44

Thank-you all, perhaps secret santa needs an enforcer! Yes of course BE got a pressie.

I did the organising once and my Secret Santa still forgot me Sad
But given the thoughtless presents that were given (chocolates to a girl who had been working really hard at her diet), maybe it was not such a bad thing! Grin

mummydarkling · 09/12/2013 22:14

Oops "HE." got a present. Actually our lot have been really thoughtful in their ss pressies. I wonder what I'll get, something hastily bought no doubt.

Based on the last office secret Santa I experienced, I shouldn't worry too much if I were you. Getting a five foot inflatable penis home on the train is no joke I can tell you.

Amy106 · 09/12/2013 22:28

I hope you get something really nice to make up for the wait. Xmas Smile

Mia4 · 09/12/2013 22:29

That's not nice OP. We sort out SS in November now. So many people get sick that we have a 'drop off week' (next week, up till thursday) and everyone has that whole week to drop off to the head PA. She dolls them out on the friday and knows if anyone hasn't put in. People always remember now, we've only had one 'bad year' when the norovirus made its rounds.

ImperialBlether · 09/12/2013 22:32

Where I work we used to do SS altogether, but the men bought such fucking awful presents for half the expected cost and with absolutely no thought whatsoever but received nice gifts from the women, so the women took agin it and bought their own stuff. The men didn't continue with it as they accepted they didn't want any of the rubbish they'd seen each other buy.
