I don't know if you have these stoopid roundabouts by you, or if they're local.

They are s normal.roundabout with bricks all round them. I can't imagine that bribks are cheaper that concrete, so have never understood them really.

But I drive round one this wvening and the car leaving the ext I was entering Confused did very rude things with his fingers to let me know I shouldn't have driven in the bricks. Huh?

They're there as part of the road, aren't they?

Excuse the typos, please, I'm sitting outside a dark cinema. Sigh.

Are the bricks raised?

I know. That's a really stupid question isn't it? But I can't imagine it being a problem unless you actually mounted the roundabout.

ooer. Grin

AnnoyingOrange · 06/12/2013 21:22

Just drive straight over the top next time

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/12/2013 21:23

Do you live in Romford Chaos ?

Here they are just pretty circles to break up the monotony of the grey tarmac.
No bas*d pays attention to them or gives way to the right. Confused

They're for driving on. In a 'I'm trying to drive around it but I can't fecking turn on a sixpence so I can't do anything but drive on them', if you catch my drift. The completely flat painted ones you can drive straight over.

bumperella · 06/12/2013 21:26

They're there to make you give way to the right and to slow you down.
You shouldn't need to be on the brick bits of the roundabout as you should be slow enough to be able to steer round it properly (though not if an HGV?). Do you drive a 4wd by any chance...?

Panzee · 06/12/2013 21:26

They're so big things like lorries can get round. They're allowed on the bricks, you're not. But it doesn't warrant V signs and beeps. :)

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/12/2013 21:29

Cars are meant to go around mini roundabouts not over them!

The reason it is possible to drive over them is that the turn would be too tight for things like buses and hgvs.

188
Mini-roundabouts. Approach these in the same way as normal roundabouts. All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so. Remember, there is less space to manoeuvre and less time to signal. Avoid making U-turns at mini-roundabouts. Beware of others doing this.

Bricks are all flushy, Hectate.

See I knew I was right.

Toss pot.

I'm Brummish, 70. I have been to Romford, buy I've neber been to me. Sad

the ones with bricks around here the bricks aren't designed for driving on. The road in tarmac like the rest of the road.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 06/12/2013 21:35

WOAH there MissQuotyQuoter.

I'm not druving ON the roundabout, I'm driving on the ousidey bit. Imagine a fried egg on the road, if you will? I'm driving on the white. ok?

OP posts:
HECTheHeraldAngelsSing · 06/12/2013 21:37

So you drove round the roundabout, not straight over it, but partly on some decorative bricks that make up part of the road and not part of the roundabout?

In that case, just write him off as a nit. Some people just like to fuss.

I once got a fist shake by someone because I wouldn't stop my car so that they could come onto my side of the road past traffic on their side (I probably would have done - I'm nice like that Grin but I had already proceeded past the start of the line iyswim before they came screaming up and it would have been ridiculous to reverse.)

I blew them a kiss.

Their face was amazing. I thought they were going to turn the car round and come after me. Grin So there you go. Whenever someone is unreasonably cranky, blow them a kiss. Much fun.

AnnoyingOrange · 06/12/2013 21:38

I think we need a photo of the roundabout in question and then we can judge you Wink

ChaosTrulyReigns · 06/12/2013 21:41

No photos in Aubu, soz.AnnieOrange. Sad

Hectate, I blow kisses, too. it rilly rilly riles the aggressive arsholios.

NoComet · 06/12/2013 21:42

Here they aren't for cars to drive on, they are so HGVs can make the turn.

Fat lot of use having Tesco and B&Q with no stock!

bumperella · 06/12/2013 22:09

Ooh, I blow kisses to Mr Grumpy Pants drivers, too.... it may be passive aggressive, though, should I name change...?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 06/12/2013 22:13

I always thought if a mini roundabout was raised and bumpy you had to drive round it but if it was just a painted white circle then you just drive straight over if free to do so? (as in no traffic to give way to)

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/12/2013 22:19

Nope. You are meant to drive around them all. See my "quoteyquote" above.

Getorf · 06/12/2013 22:23

Oh just drive over the fucking things.

After years of driving over the magic roundabout in Swindon (method - just point and GO aggressively and scare other drivers into submission) I just do what I like on mini roundabouts. Sick of the Mexican standoff which occurs where everyone just looks gormlessly at one another.

Roundabouts with bricks can get fucked. Why build roundabouts with bricks on? Stupid. SCHTOOPID.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 06/12/2013 22:29

Blimey, Get0, wassup? You are being so Way Harsh!

Ok, ItsAll, I'll go round, I am a bit of a rule follower.

Still think they're daft though.

I got the beeping, fist shaking and a scream of "fucking read the Highway Code" by someone once when I did a u turn on a large mini roundabout with plenty of space to get round it.

So I'm pleased to see the Highway Code says you should avoid doing it rather than you must never do it.

Getorf · 06/12/2013 22:37

Way harsh tai.
