He's had a snot & cough on and off for three weeks.
Blows his nose like a Tuba each and every time.
Coughs and spitoons flem all the time into tissues. Sounds horrendous.
Nag him to go to the docs.
Does not go.
I take him to docs to make an appt and I sit outside in the car.
No appts for 2.5 weeks.
Told to ring back at 8am.
Which he does not do.
Told to rin after 12pm.
Which he does after I shove phone into his hand at 11.59am.
Is told to expect a phone appt after 3pm.
At 3pm he's having a shit & misses call.
Docs call back and give prescription.
Forget to collect prescription until next day.
Goes the next day but surgery closed for training.
Goes back the next day but not till late.
Drops off prescriptions.
Next days goes to collec prescription and gets wrong one.
Finally gets right one.
Starts to take medicine.
But misreads the details, he's been taking one anti biotic a day, not one three times a day.
He was 100% sure it was one a day, I said I've never heard of a one a day anti biotic.
Finally started taking three once a day.

How fucking hard was that? Just lost my temper with him, total child.

Wine

You did a damn load more than I would have done (unless he was so poorly he couldn't do it himself)

When you lost your temper ( which after that I wouldn't blame you for) did he say why he needed walking through every step?

NewName123 · 06/12/2013 16:19

oh god, hope he is now feeling better and keeping his snot to himself

Tuhlulah · 06/12/2013 16:24

Are you married to my 12 year old DS?

softlysoftly · 06/12/2013 16:28

Wtf they prescribed antibs with no patient review?

How do they even know he needs them? Could be a long running virus.

YANBU but that would concern me. He's going to build up resistance and get the plague with that behaviour.

Ltb Wink

grants1000 · 06/12/2013 16:32

The doctors is not an idiot, he did a full assessment and looked at his records. Build up resistance with the first set of anti b's in about 5 years, I dont thinks so.

what is 'ltb' by the way?

YANBU.

But stop acting like his mum and he might stop acting like a child.

softlysoftly · 06/12/2013 16:52

Sorry thought he'd been given prescription by phone in the end but jesus don't be so defensive "the plague" was clearly a joke

softlysoftly · 06/12/2013 16:53

Ltb leave the bastard (also a joke! )

raisah · 06/12/2013 18:27

I am surprised that he is still alive....that you haven't killed him yet because I would have.

grants1000 · 06/12/2013 23:49

I just wanted the phlegm and tuba noises to stop! I've still not spoken to him since this morning, so am not mothering in any way, shape or form.

And he wonders why I don't feel inclined to have sex with him.Hmm

oh god... i have had a sinus problem like this. I was avoiding doctors/antibiotics for as long as poss because of the overuse issue and advice is to wait 2 weeks unless its just viral etc. but i sounded HORRENDOUS, I really pity my coworkers and I'm sure it must be hideous for you.
if it helps, i have since found out that avoiding wheat has an almost miraculous effect on my phlegm production...

BeigeBuffet · 07/12/2013 00:25

I have a DH like yours! I've managed to scare him by telling him he could blow a blood vessel (which is quite possible) by the near constant sniffing and blowing of his nose.

My dm who's suffered for years with sinus has made DH use sterimar (it's like a wash) every night and so far it's the only thing that's worked.

5HundredUsernamesLater · 07/12/2013 01:33

Your partner sounds like mine, must be a man thing! It drives me nuts too. I honestly think i suffer more when he's ill than when I'm ill.
Also, a doctor gave my daughter a prescription for antibiotics after a phone appointment. He knows her very well and was happy to do so. I best google the plague symptoms so I know what I'm looking for!

runningonwillpower · 07/12/2013 01:40

You are not his mum!!!!!!!

You took a grown man to the doctor?

WTF?

Doubletroublemummy2 · 07/12/2013 02:30

I have one if those too, and those of you have been lucky enough to find a grownup man, congratulations, enjoy, but stop rubbing it in.
