AIBU to buy a mango

I didn't want to post this on the RIP Nelson Mandela threads, I don't think it is disrespectful but it would certainly alter the tone and I didn't want to do that.

joshandjamie linked to her blog about Nelson Mandela and first hearing his name in 1988.

In 1988 I'd never eaten a mango (I was 21). We had apples and pears and oranges but, as children, my brother and I were not permitted certain fruits.

As we got older we learned that we were allowed them, just not if they came from South Africa.

My parents, like many others, were leading their own small boycott of the apartheid regime. I like many also carried on this tradition.

I don't know if the boycott made any difference, I hope it did.

So AIBU to not raise a glass but eat a mango this evening in memory of NM.

Yanbu. My parents did the same, no SA fruit whilst he was imprisoned.

Enjoy the mango Smile

I've been listening to Nelson Mandela by the Specials. I might have a mango as well. RIP Madiba.
