To not put up Christmas Tree until the 24th December?

We are going away from the 23rd to 27th December. Staying in a log cabin on a park resort. Won't arrive till late on the 23rd as it is a 6 hour drive.

I have said I don't want put up Xmas decs at home as we won't be here for Xmas and it's a lots of extra hassle and mess (3 year old will probably wreck it all). We will pick up a real tree on the way up North (sling it on the roof rack) and take the decs up in the car with us.

DCs want them up NOW and are not happy at all. I get pissed off with them after a few days anyway so am quite happy to wait. AIBU??

Not at all. Sounds sensible to me!

Quite right - everyone knows that Christmas eve is all about the magic of putting up your tree.

YANBU at all! Anything earlier than the weekend before Christmas just sp I know someone who put their decorations up on the second weekend of November Shock - for me that just spoils it.

Sorry that message was garbled - blimmin phone. Anyway - anything too early spoils it.

Ideally I would put the tree up on Christmas Eve whilst listening to the carols from Kings College.
And take it down on Boxing Day.

In reality we tend to put it up the day after the children break up from school, and take it down the day before they go back.
