To be irritable with my doctors surgery - 8 week check

I have rung my doctors surgery 5 or 6 times to try to book DD's 8 week check but the receptionist keeps saying that the practice manager is going to write to me with an appointment (originally the letters were meant to have been sent out two weeks ago). I have booked her first set of injections but am getting twitchy that I haven't been given an appointment for her 8 week check.

What should I do? Is the 8 week check very important?

I think my DD had her injections & the 8 week check at the same time? Maybe by booking the injections, you have therefore also booked the check? Maybe phone to check?

I booked the injections because they wouldn't give me an 8 week appointment.

It's been resolved now - spoke with the admin lady and DD had slipped through their net. She has cancelled DD's injections and booked us in to the 8 week clinic.

Glad it's all resolved

Count yourself lucky. In our area, vaccinations were delivered months late due to lack of capacity. There were no 12 months checks as insufficient health visitors to do so and we've just had a letter to say that there will be no 2 year developmental check either! You have a complete a tick box questionnaire and return if if you have concerns e.g. if your child does not have 50 words or other people have difficulty understanding their speech.

How many people will actually bother returning these non compulsory forms - it's just a surefire way for problems to fall through the net. Does anyone else have this in their area?
