As I am THE ONLY ONE IN MY FAMILY WHO KNOWS HOW TO PUT THINGS IN THE DISHWASHER?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How long should I go on stike for? How long should I leave it before I finally crack and load up the blasted dishes myself???

Less strike, as you will crack and be worse off than before. Mum has always done the dishes, so strike is not the way to announce regime change.

How old are the others in the family? If old enough to do this, it's time for Ye Olde Chore Chart, complete with consequences. I found a key to this is that Mum and Dad have to be in the rota as well. That way everyone is on the hook, plus there is leading by example and all that.

Don't let it just be about the dishes, although keep it in proportion. Good luck! Approach it calmly, reasonably and firmly.

The key is to keep changing the password for the router.

Chores done = password. Wink

6, 15 and 41.

They do random things like unloading a dirty dishwasher or putting a half- ful mug of tea on the top tray so that it spills down on the dishes that are spanking clean as the dishwasher has just finished the cycle.

If you have it, then so do I. People in my house seem to think the plates magically clean themselves if dumped in the sink.

enriquetheringbearinglizard · 01/12/2013 17:41

I only know one man who loads a dishwasher. No kids in that family though.
In our house it's just me who does it, but to be absolutely honest, if anyone else ever does put stuff in there, I usually end up rearranging anyway, so it's a bit of a vicious circle Confused

Does the 41yr old need to have a Chore Chart too?

The 52 yr old in our house does indeed know how to load and empty a dishwasher and frequently does it.

However, he does seem to think a magic fairy puts his clean underwear away for him.

Revengeofkarma · 01/12/2013 20:11

To be fair, I next to never unload or load the dishwasher. But it is a trade off for doing all (and I do mean all) the cooking. If there's a fair division, I dont think anyone minds. But when it is unfair........
