to speak out against sexual bullying during his revelations about football club "initiations" ?
He has massive influence for young people and he could have used his experience to point out that he would be horrified if it happened to any of his his children and that any kind of ritual sexual behaviour is appalling and very wrong.
When 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 10 boys are subject to sexual assault before the age of 18, he could have been a powerful voice against it.

I imagine it still goes on now, particularly in sports and the military, going back 30 years, my DH nearly got put on a charge for refusing to participate in "naked twister" as part of cadet initiation. He also knows people who had their pubic hair shaved off forcibly or were made to drink a pint of urine as a forfeit.

The whole thing is just vile and for DB to speak of it as normal and inevitable has done great harm.

Poor guy. He can't do anything right, can he?

I thought the same, OP. I didn't like the way he was making light of this, when he had the opportunity to say it is degrading and wrong to sexually harrass people. He is a role model for a lot of people and all he has done is given boys the green light to act this way. I can't stand this stupid, frat-boy/ laddish initiation drivel.

How nasty that it was a man on the calendar as well- obviously it was the homophobic element that was used to taunt him. what if DB was gay? It is shit like this that makes people scared to come out, especially in the world of sport.

I agree, why mention it so long after?
Universities are increasingly doing this kind of thing but much, much worse stuff that can't be taken back. I saw something on facebook via a friend's son who is at Exeter and it was along the lines of "slag of the month" and the girl was interviewed after managing to shag 80 guys. Once my friend saw it the post was swiftly removed.
It's crap and it's getting worse.
