I've been watching some of IACGMOOH this year, wouldn't normally bother with it much, but DD took an interest in it and now loves it. We only really watch the first 15 mins as she has to go to bed then but we sometimes catch up with the trials etc the next day. We put it on tonight and OH starts moaning that it's a "pikey" programme and of "zero benefit" to anyone and asks what DD would get out of watching a programme like that. I replied that, ok, it's not the most intellectual programme out there, but it is entertaining and nice to see people (like Matthew Wright) who were a gibbering wreck at the start and have conquered some of their fears and are stronger as a result. What do you all think? TIA

YABU to try and find any educational value in pap TV BUT TV watching doesn't always HAVE to be informative or 'of value' so your DH is being a prat Grin

Chewing gum for the eyes - that's what it is Grin

If we only ever watched "worthy" programmes then life would be terribly dull!

I dont watch that, or X Factor or Celebrity Come Dancing On Ice Has Got Talent, because they dont interest me, but I dont care if other people do. I have noticed a lot of snobbery about those shows, as if not watching them somehow makes you better and more discerning that those that do! My cousin is one of the worlds foremost experts in her field, is a Doctor who has written many books, including set texts for trainees. She LOVES X Factor and would give her right arm to have a talent so she could go on BGT!

I hate snobbery!

Does your Dp say things like " pikey" a lot?

lborolass · 28/11/2013 21:54

What's the definition of a pikey programme? Your DH sounds like a joyless bore.

Joolsy · 28/11/2013 21:54

DD is 10. No he doesn't say stuff like that much but he does use that word every now & then as he knows I hate it!
