...with an ipad. Whats the best one...an ipad 1,2, mini and there also seems to be many differences within each and huge differences between prices....very confused. Cant afford to spend much but think i might need to update abit from the old labtop. Please be gentle and speak in normal language. Also whist im on the point my old mobile phone has died (screen doesnt work) and it seems its all smart phones. Whats the best phone that its simple to use and just texts and phones, nothing else. Asked in the shop yesterday and guy was shocked and talked about apps and not getting lost without one. I suggested maps and asking people. have i been in a cave.... Phone needs to be on vodaphone.... Please help....

'Can't afford to spend much' and 'I pad' don't really belong in the same sentence Confused

All I can advise is that I love my iPad mini. Suited my budget. Didn't get 3G as I knew I'd mostly be using it at home and therefore could connect with wifi. Perfect for browsing Internet, social media apps, watching Netflix in bed Smile

Perhaps post this in Geek Stuff?

I wouldn't buy anything but an iPad or an iPhone. Mine pay for themselves with the amount of use and joy I get from them every day. Definite luxuries, but weigh up the price difference with that in mind.

If you really want a no frills bog standard phone that just calls and texts, I suggest you tell them you are buying it for a child aged 10 - that's not supposed to sound rude or condescending, when I bought for my DD last yr I said thats what we wanted - bog standard cheepo phone for emergencies and occasional texts - no email, no internet

ThisWayForCrazy · 28/11/2013 20:41

In your position I would get an iPhone and use it for both functionalities.

ThisWayForCrazy · 28/11/2013 20:42

The reason I say this is, you get the same functions on an iPhone and an iPad. And you will have a new phone. Rather than buying two things, if money is tight.

Hi just to let you know that apple are doing a one day "black friday" promotion. They haven't stated what this is but looking at the australian apple store they are giving store vouchers of differing values when you buy iPads, iPods, and macs. It may be worth you having a look in the morning on the website to see what they are offering in the UK.

I love my iPad, it's an iPad3 I think, but I bought DH an iPad mini and prefer that if I am honest. I have to say, I needed to ring Apple about DS2's iPod, they were so damn rude it was untrue. They put the phone down, weren't interested and said I might need to pay £25 for Apple support although the iPod is still under a year old. It has honestly made me question using them in the future.

I have seen a lot of people post on here that the Hudl from Tesco is a good alternative and it is about £109 I think.

If you want a simple phone I would look on Amazon or somewhere for a Sim free phone. That way you'll find something that does what you want without someone breathing down your neck in a shop.
