Sleepover. 9 eight and nine year old girls. One vomits on the settee. Husband decides to clean it up using a fish slice and a mixing bowl. I say FFS why are you using food preparation items to clean it up? His argument is well its just sick from eating too much chocolate and I will wash them afterwards. Im furious I catch any stomach bug going and he is so blasé about it

Just wash them in really hot soapy water, they will be fine.

squoosh · 24/11/2013 00:05
Grin

Wouldn't the puke slip through the gaps in the fish slice? Seems like odd implements to use but I presume they'd be washed afterwards, and look on the bright side, at least you didn't need to clean it up!

FutTheShuckUp · 24/11/2013 00:05

Thank you I may be over stressing because I hate sick bugs

KeepingUpWithTheJonses · 24/11/2013 00:06

A fish slice?

Like a piece of cod? Hmm

FutTheShuckUp · 24/11/2013 00:06

Lol I know a ladle would have prob done the job better

OP posts:
Daykin · 24/11/2013 00:06

surely they are washable

FutTheShuckUp · 24/11/2013 00:07

Don't make me laugh keeping I'm meant to be in a bad mood

OP posts:
squoosh · 24/11/2013 00:08

Not a slice of fish, a fish slice. Smile

BlackDaisies · 24/11/2013 00:09

I think the thought of it is worse than the reality. They'll wash fine in hot soapy water. And a fish slice will probably be great for getting the worst of it off! But I agree I'd probably have a bit of a moment the next time I saw it scooping up my dinner!

Umpire · 24/11/2013 00:10

He was cleaning it up and u said stop?????

AgentZigzag · 24/11/2013 00:10

YABU Grin

At least he went to clear it up!

Cat's are theoretically mine so I clear their puke/piss/shit, dog's DHs, and we do potatoes as to who clears the DDs up Grin

No, that's not true actually, I clear it all up Hmm

Pouring boiling water over them should kill all the nasties.

YABU to have 9 at once! Why? Why would you do that to yourself??

AgentZigzag · 24/11/2013 00:12

Hahaha at cleaning it up with a bit of cod Grin

I would have thought plaice would have been better - flat, see?

SpeckleDust · 24/11/2013 00:13

YABU for allowing 10 8/9 year olds to sleep over. Recipe for disaster Grin

KeatsiePie · 24/11/2013 00:19

A SPATULA?!? Hahahaha ... ewww ... hahahaha.

That is a very odd choice of implement but if he will wash it and the bowl, dry, and put away so that they are not staring you in the face from the drying rack, I would call it good.

FutTheShuckUp · 24/11/2013 00:22

Because agent I am an absolute idiot

OP posts:
DropYourSword · 24/11/2013 00:22

Thing is, if she's just been sick from too much chocolate, there won't BE a sick bug anyway!

I say good on your DH from dealing with this. But he is BU not to use a spatula!

AgentZigzag · 24/11/2013 00:27

That you are Fut, that you are

Bet your DD thinks you're fucking brilliant though Wink

FutTheShuckUp · 24/11/2013 00:29

My daughters friend told me this an amazing thing I'm doing. But she feels very sorry for me

OP posts:
VisualiseAHorse · 24/11/2013 00:31

Laughing very hard at 'not a slice of fish, a fish slice'. Two very different things.

KeepingUpWithTheJonses · 24/11/2013 00:36

I've never, ever heard of a 'fish slice'!

That's a spatula!

And yanbu...what a weird implement to clean up sick with! Don't the smaller chunks just fall through? (bleughh)

WallyBantersJunkBox · 24/11/2013 00:38

He sounds top notch actually, as long as he cleans the bowl and fish slice in boiling soapy water. Especially if it was in chunks.

How's the sofa?

I cannot stand clearing up other peoples sick. DS was breastfeeding with a virus and puked up a load of hot booby milk. It was like a warm wave down my bra, shirt, cleavage, to my waist and then trickling down the armchair cushions.

I hyperventilated for quite a long time.

squoosh · 24/11/2013 00:39

To me this is a spatula or maybe these if you're feeling a bit jazzier!

KeatsiePie · 24/11/2013 00:47

Ah squoosh to me your first link is a spatula (albeit a rather specialized one) and your second one is a bunch of scrapers.

Didn't know what a fish slice was either till I saw the picture.

Fut that thing your DD's friend said is very funny!

steff13 · 24/11/2013 01:17

According to the dictionary, all of the items pictured could correctly be referred to as spatulas. I've never heard of a fish slice.

I don't think I would like one of my spatulas and mixing bowls used to clean up vomit, yuck. I would have used paper towels and a plastic grocery bag. Ick.

AgentZigzag · 24/11/2013 01:23

What do you give to someone who thinks they're going to be sick steff?

I'd always offer a bowl, am I breaking barf etiquette doing that?
