To think that guaranteed delivery should be just that...

Posted a job application on Thursday at 10AM - paid £19.92 for Royal Mail 9am next day delivery (closing date for the job was noon on Friday).

Did The track and Trace thing yesterday - and just said check back later - phoned Royal Mail today and they had some issues at one of the depots and the application is still with them and won't now be delivered until Monday - argh.

Anyone know if HR departments will generally take a late form if you have proof of postage? This is for a government organisation and they can be very strict about this sort of thing.

claim against it with Royal Mail for late delivery but I don't know whether it would be accepted. why did you leave it so late?

Form took an age to fill in (16 pages) and I didn't have it completed until Wednesday night - thought would be fine leaving it late as would just pay for with next day delivery.

Not really worried about claiming the cost back - just wondering if HR will accept the application with proof that it was sent with guaranteed 9am delivery.

have you tried emailing to let them know? might be worth a shot

Thanks - will phone them on Monday and see what they say.

Was just hoping someone here would ease my worries over the weekend and say it will be ok!

I know if we have a closing date that's it, we don't accept anything that's past the date. the company take the view if you leave it to the last minute and it fails that's the way the cookie crumbles. hopefully whoever you applied to will give accept your application if you explain whats happened.

ok, thanks - will just have to wait until Monday and plead my case.
Fingers crossed - application took ages to complete!
