Ordered a couple of things from M&S. Had to go to the post office today to collect them, and was surprised they'd sent two separate orders. On opening them, found that one box was mine and the other box, though addressed to me, was someone else's order. Complete with their delivery note and name and address on the inside....

Anyway I called M&S to let them know and they've asked me to go to the post office to send it back. Which is of course the only thing they really could have said, other than "keep it". But it's a bit of a faff to get back to the PO. They didn't say thanks for letting us know and being honest, they didn't apologise for their mistake, and didn't offer even a token such as a refund of my postage charges to compensate for the inconvenience. I've always thought good things about M&S but am I bit surprised at this. I wonder if they will explain to their other customer that her goods are at the wrong end of the country and she's only getting them once I can get them back to base?

Serves me right for being a good citizen. Next time I will keep all 3 loo brushes, which is what the order was Grin.

So AIBU, or just a demanding customer?

3 M&S Loo brushes, are they gold plated?

This is just any loo brush, this a pretentious gold plated, ivory handled M&S loo brush.

MuddyWellyNelly · 19/11/2013 19:29

Haha! Can I just clarify the 3 loo brushes were the other order, not mine!

yanbu, tell them to come and get them

Iseeall · 19/11/2013 19:30

You are nbu.
Phone them back and ask them to arrange collection asap(as you don't want strange parcels in your home).
Job done.

LuciusMalfoyisSmokingHot · 19/11/2013 19:32

Its cheeky of them to ask you to do all the leg work.

I ordered a sideboard from m&s quite an expensive unit so knew they would need to phone to arrange delivery, I realised after making the order I'd left my old phone number on the order as id recently moved ,so I emailed the customer service dept telling them I had my phone number wrong and could they please correct it as they wouldn't be able to contact me on the old one.
I was told No once an order was made I couldn't change any details and my info had already went to the delivery dept. I was then left to chase the delivery dept myself who were astounded I'd been told they couldn't be bothered modifying my order.
God knows who they are employing these days ,

Idespair · 19/11/2013 21:27

How disgraceful. If they expected you to take it to PO, they should send you an M&S voucher for at least £10 for your honesty and help.

TicTocCroc · 19/11/2013 21:38

They're being crap!

My miele vacuum went back for repairs a little while ago and they accidentally returned it to someone else a few miles away. They apologised profusely and said they'd arrange a courier to get it back - when I asked them if they could ask the other customer if I could collect it from their house they arranged itall. Then they gave me a £25 gift voucher without me having even complained.

not only that, they had fixed the fault under the warranty but also replaced freeof charge a £35 clip I had snapped off it through sheer clumsiness.

I would expect more of m and would call them back and tell them you won't be returning the stuff and they need to arrange a courier.

Their customer service is getting worse. I bought a new duvet cover set online from them, went to put it on the bed this morning to find one of the seams was split. Took it back today and asked for a refund. Supervisor barked at me, asking where the packaging was. Told her I didn't still have the packaging as I was in process of putting it on the bed when I realised it was FAULTY. Then supervisor went off to make a call to, presumably, another supervisor, who lo and behold advised her they could accept said item without packaging. No apology, no smile, no nothing. Miserable gits. I'll be buying a replacement elsewhere madam!! Grin

M&S = manky service :)

Just don't ever use the bra fitting service

enriquetheringbearinglizard · 19/11/2013 22:34

Too true fortydoors in my own experience their bra fitting service was not fit for purpose.

I had shocking customer service with John Lewis click and collect this weekend. Very annoyed at their attitude.
I'd complain if I could be arsed to teach them how to do a half decent job, but then you'd presume they'd know how to do that wouldn't you. Gah!
