To think updating to IOS 7 should not be so difficult....

Obviously a first world problem, but it's taken me two hours to clear out my apps and photos to upgrade the operating system. Apparently it needs 3.8gb surely this is a lot for a software update...

This is why I haven't done it, and I won't be doing it either. I deleted loads of pics and videos and apps to make space for it and backed everything onto iCloud, and then saw all the crap reviews. My dh used to have an iPhone and had updated but it slowed down everything and drained a lot of battery. I haven't updated my iPad either.

I had no space on my phone so I plugged it into iTunes and did it from there. same with my iPad. No problems at all with it, over five devices in this house. As with most things, people moan about the problems but very few write about the smooth transitions.

There's real no needs to faff for ages like that. You only need the 3.8 gb while your actually downloading, so:

Step one. Back up to the cloud or your computer.
Step two. Restore the phone to factory settings.
Step three. Download ios 7
Step four restore the phone again, but this time using your back up.

I updated my iPad. I don't want to update my iPhone. I just don't like iOS7.

I did what Gwendoline did. Plug iPhone into computer. iTunes launches. Update. Rook very little time and no effort. No need to clear phone or restore or anything! I think the battery does drain a bit more quickly, though.
