Or more precisely, to say "I dont know, I dont particularly want anything, why not get me a charity gift?" ? The thing is, when I say that I am told that no, they dont want to to do that and then get pissed off with me because I dont have a list of things I want that they can choose from!

H has done this, although he isnt so bad in that he is usually just checking that there isnt anything specific I want before he goes shopping. My mother on the the other hand does this every single year! Its bad enough that I have to do the shopping for her gifts to the kids, without being expected to provide a comprehensive list of things for me that she approves of and are on budget!

AIBU? Cos I dont think I am but it wouldnt be the first time I have been wrong!

Tell her that you want a Rampant Rabbit. I'm sure it'll be in budget.

Yanbu. My brother and mum do this and they go in a bit of a strop when I don't give them a precise answer. What happened to surprises and people putting some thought in to gift buying?

That said, this year I'd be quite happy with some lovely stuff from Lush so I can make the most of my new bathroom :)

Totally sympathise, my mother and dh do this, and mother then drives me nuts by saying "nah, don't want to get you one of those" to everything on list. or "How much? That's a rip off", even though it's within the budget she's stipulated. "Nope, refuse to get you that too expensive for what it is." BUT IT'S WHAT I WANT AND YOU ASKED.

Also have to provide list of dh's wants to all rellies. Impossible.

It's far more stressful choosing for myself than buying for everyone else.
