Iv been away this weekend for two nights and he has been left at home with the baby. Overall he has done a fantastic job house is lovely and tidy and baby is fed and happy and clean.

However he has done a couple of loads of washing. Now, this is normally my domain as i'm so particular about how things are washed, hung out/dried, folded and put away.

He has managed not to shrink anything but everything he has dried and folded is creased and inside out :( I feel like such a bitch to be annoyed but he has done this to 'help me out' and now i have to sort and iron and re fold and put away two loads of washing. usually ironing is practically non-existent because I'm so careful with how I wash and dry things.

I cant say anything, he has been brilliant overall!

Help me get a grip ladies :/

People do things to different standards, if it is usually your domain how would he know you do it a certain way?

Just leave the clothes as they are, they are clean right? No one is going to die because they are folded inside out or not ironed.

So what if you all wear unironed creased clothes for a few weeks?

Just know for future, he does things different to you, and it doesn't matter!

Sounds like you are being a bit too particular. We don't do ironing in this house anyway, so I would have left it be.

I agree with everyone else. Unclench and leave it.

You are being a bit of a misery. He has carried out a chore. It just hasn't been to your exacting standards. Make do with it being a bit creased until it needs washing again. Or just wash it again and do it your way.

I'm glad you're just moaning to us and not to him.

My dp has given up on folding laundry, he never does it right!! It irrationally upsets me if things aren't all folded in the same direction so I feel your pain, I just re do it and say nothing, it's my issue not his

By the sounds of it, he's actually done really well. Mine put my brand new red dress in with the white wash the other day. I hate pink.

Seriously though, lighten up. It's only ironing and he's done a good job of everything else. My OH doesn't like how I wash up, I hate how he cleans the bathroom. We both keep our mouths shut...it's how we get by without hurting eachother!

I know I am bu and I would never dream of saying anything to him. Things like this just make me irrationally annoyed. I hate wearing creased clothes (they are really creased, its like he screwed them up for a day then folded them badly aswell) it makes me feel so untidy.

Some people can't win can they? Yabu. Be appreciative and don't look for issues when there aren't any.

You don't need to do anything at all you know. Creases soon wear out.

Complaining is mean, BUT, I understand. I have an incredibly 'useful' DP. He does loads round the house, but his laundry skills are appalling! He sorts loads by temperature, not colour! so everything ends up homogenous grey, and everything is completely and utterly incinerated in the tumble dryer! To the point where the creases are permanently embedded, lycra is utterly obliterated and jumpers are fit only for toddlers! Folding entails putting the sleeves roughly together and then screwing the item up!
I can see why you want to complain, but ,maybe consider a little gentle hinting, like "its great you did the washing darling, but its easier in the long run if you fold it flat..." or similar.

I wouldn't say anything either but it's still a bit annoying!

DH hangs damp towels on top of other damp towels then wonders why nothing ever seems to dry.

I just move them when I see them. As you say, he has done a good job but just not the same way you do it.

I'm a bit of a fusser as well so it would annoy me but I bite my tongue as it's not a big enough thing to point out without sounding naggy and weird :)

I can see where you are coming from. It just feels like a half assed job! When you put effort into the first half why not carry it through?! My DP has me fuming regularly for things like this. Sometime I try to gently point it out ( like when he used wrong stuff for shower cleaning so it didn't really make shower cleaner... In fact it went mouldy) but most of the time I rage internally. He can't even work out which bag his dirty clothes should go in ( options are white/light/dark) so just dumps it on the counter. Gaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Put them in the tumble drier with a clean damp towel for 20 minutes. The steam will release the creases and you can iron them easily.

If you cooked his tea and burnt it and served it cold he wouldn't be pleased that you'd saved him the trouble of cooking, would he?

That's what I say to my OH when he complains that I haven't done the laundry right. I'm allowed to load the machine, but after that I've been declared substandard. My cooking is fabulous though.

YABU and YANBU. Like a couple of others on the thread I have a wonderfully willing DH who does a half-assed job at certain tasks, which frequently means I end up doing something again. It is really annoying.

e.g. dirty pan in sink - I assume it is dirty. I clean it before I start cooking. BUT same pan in cupboard I assume is clean. I pull it out mid-way through cooking, only to discover it's covered in caked on shit from last meal. I now have to clean pan while midway through cooking. Drives me mental!
