By being annoyed with leap frog?

Bought my son the leap frog lettersaurus for his first birthday. DH loves dinosaurs and its lovely. Was playing with it today an pressed X. Lettersaurus informed me "x is for exit" accompanies by a squeaking door sound. NO, it's not. AIBU to expect more from an 'educational' toy?

Dd's school teach x for fox - xylophone wouldn't teach the proper phonics sound. At his age he'll be okay :)

Doodlekitty · 13/11/2013 18:15

Yeah, I thought it would be to do with the phonics, but it's still wrong. I appreciate x words are hard to find but it still seems a bit shit. Maybe I'm over thinking.

I'd be more annoyed if it was zee the American sound

YANBU. You're not over-thinking, you just expect educational materials to be correct, which is fair enough!

Doodlekitty · 13/11/2013 19:42

No princess, it says zed.

I'd planned on getting this for my son!

Very odd that they have x for exit. I get why they do it for phonetics however still odd.

What's wrong with x for x-ray? At least it stays with a hard x sound!

I remember always noticing this when I was 5 years old. One book even said "X is for axe"!

I thought this thread was going to be about leapfrog the playground game!
