I was on the bus today and I sat on the back seat next to the window. A family then got on (two parents, two toddlers) and sat on the seat opposite me at the back, with the woman sat next to me. Their little boy sat nicely, but the little girl was unhappy and the parents just ignored her and let her step all over my feet, tear the bottom of one of my shopping bags etc.

I don't understand why the parents just sat there with no attempt to distract/calm her. They just sat having a pleasant conversation with each other about going to subway for lunch amongst other things!

Before anyone accuses me of not understanding the trials of young children, I am a single parent with two toddlers and even on the worst days where they are both playing up and I am at the end of my tether, I would at least try to distract them and wouldn't just sit there averting my eyes.

Just a small whinge really! AIBU to have been annoyed with them (the parents not the little girl), and to think that they were being idiots to just ignore their child?

Did you say anything? Perhaps they didn't notice?

Sometimes parents choose to ignore because they think their child wants attention or throwing a tantrum.
Shame on them. You should have said excuse me your child is ripping,my bag, shoes etc. Let them know.
