By the general smell of people?!! Im sat on a bys home. And its not like there is anyone who looks like they'd be particulary dirty. I think I have the nose if a bloodhound!
I really cant stand the smell of flesh!!! Other peoples hair!! Just other peoples smells in general. Dont get me wrong I love a good sniff of my kids feet after a day in socks and shoes!! I love the smell of my kids!! And husband for that matter (just not the bottom half Wink) but other people make me want to be sick!!! Im trying not to have a panic attack here cause i cant escape the bus for another hour or so!!

WTF?

Labootin · 06/11/2013 13:17

I'd imagine a crabbie pattie smells none too fresh either

Isildur · 06/11/2013 13:19

I can see how you might have issues with the smell of other people's flesh if you were cooking them or something, otherwise, I'd say you're in a minority with the whole 'smell of people' thing.

The sniffing of feet sounds quite revolting though.

Tee2072 · 06/11/2013 13:20
Hmm
brightnearly · 06/11/2013 13:21

Is your name Grenouille??? Maybe train to be a perfumer? Or could you be expecting? Next time on the bus bury your face in a perfumed scarf?

Angelina77 · 06/11/2013 13:23

I know what you mean, I have that problem on buses, in the post office. Dirty hair smell is rank. I want to have my sense of smell removed because it's just not worth it.

Festered · 06/11/2013 13:24

Erm...
Is it normal to sniff your kids' feet ?Or just a special occasions thing.....Hmm

I don't like the smell of people if they have poor hygiene. And I have a very sensitive nose...

TooTabooToBOOOOO · 06/11/2013 13:28

I know what you mean OP, in fact I have thought of starting a similar thread on many occasions.

Problem is, normally there are many people lacking in personal hygiene on my bus.

I am not going to take the piss because there are many reasons why they are this way, however I do on occasion think "for the love of god!!"

It was horrific when I was pregnant last year and had bloodhound nose! A favourite on my route is pasties/sausage rolls. There are signs on the bus asking people to consider other passengers and not eat on the bus. Ignored. I was hormonal, feeling sick and usually tired, they would sit in front of me eating their meat and potato pie. DisCusting!!! Grin

bialystockandbloom · 06/11/2013 13:29

Yes indeed, who doesn't love a good old sniff of their children's feet after a day in trainers?

crabbiepattie · 06/11/2013 13:30

Brightnearly- jean babtiste?? Didnt he get aroused by the smell of womens flesh and therefore murder a fair few females to "capture" their smell?!!

Nope not pregnant - have mirena and just done a test which was negative (i do them every so often to be on the safe side!)

I think its deffo a poor hygeine thing or possibly a sweaty person thing. I do have my head buried in a vera wang princess smelling scarf!! Roll on passing my test next month!!!

Yanbu. Public transport is particularly bad for this as are post office queues. Dirty hair and also food smells on clothes, barf!

bootsycollins · 06/11/2013 13:32

Cover your nose and mouth with a scarf to filter the stale stench of society's great unwashed then.

crabbiepattie · 06/11/2013 13:33

My children are 2 and a half (twins) and 4 btw. So still at the cutesy tootsie stage!! I couldnt do it if they were older...say 8-9 years old and in the cusp of the whole hormonal puberty thing!!!

I had no sense of smell until I was pregnant with my son, and now I am like a bloodhound and wish to god it would go away again. When I couldn't smell anything, I thought I was missing out, but now I realise that about 80% of all smells are bad.

BelaLugosisShed · 06/11/2013 16:37

It is a bit of a curse to have an unusually sensitive sense of smell, or taste, or hearing, I have all three unfortunately and it's really not fun.
I can hear next door's clock and the hum of the street lights outside, other peoples' clothes scented with fabric softener make me get a headache, there so many things I can't eat, anything even remotely spicy for example, is hugely painful. People who stink of cigarettes are the worst.
I'm a freak, obviously.

FeisMom · 06/11/2013 16:38

God I hate queueing behind smelly people. Unwashed hair is the worst

FiscalCliffRocksThisTown · 06/11/2013 16:47

I think it is to do with being hard up, with being poor.

Obviously not saying that all poor people smell.

But it is a smell I associate with poverty (and living in a country where hot water is not cheap).

reminds me of not having hot water for weeks in crappy B&B and taking kids for showers in local leisure centre!

whereisthewitch · 06/11/2013 16:52

School kids after a day in school all packed on to a bus after getting a good soak in the rain. ....that smell would knock you dead. Even in my student days I found that to be the most disgusting smell on the planet.

I love the smell of my DDs(2yo) feet, OP I am clearly weird too Grin

Katnisscupcake · 06/11/2013 16:58

Yep, totally getting you OP - YANBU...

People smell. I have an over-sensitive sense of smell and haven't been on a bus in about 23 years - but people on the train smell too.

If someone farts (DD, DH) I have to leave the room. I can't bear it. Yuk!
