Update on lost teddy in menorca (tears, am afraid, mine)

SayMyNameSayIt · 28/10/2013 21:57

Just a quick update, am going to bed in a minute as I have a cold and don't feel well, plus hard to see through my tears.

Villa company have contacted me to say they have checked and double checked the villa and laundry, but no teddy. I am certain they've been really thorough.

So I have no idea where he went, I was certain he was in the laundry. Anyway, DS1 is fine, not mentioned teddy, it's me who is broken hearted. Because teddy represents ds1's childhood etc.

Am just glad ds1 is ok and not upset. I'll go back to the original thread and ask those who said they'd sent postcards to do that.

Thank you again so much, I was truly touched by the kindness shown and the other stories shared.
Please excuse any typos and I'm sorry for disappearing just now, honestly not feeling well and very very tearful. I know I'm over emotional, can't help it

Thanks again. Can't really see to proof read, sorry

I really sorry. I completely understand. It's bizarre but so much is invested into these little furry things. Glad your DS is ok and hope you will be soon too.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 28/10/2013 22:11

Oh - I'm so sorry. DS is only 10 months but I can imagine exactly how you are feeling. I'd love to send a postcard. Am off to hunt yiur other thread to see what I need to do. Flowers

DumSpiroSpero · 28/10/2013 22:14

Didn't see your original thread but sending you an UnMumsnetty hug - my DD's best bear went AWOL halfway through our holiday 18 months ago and I'm not sure which of us was more devastated Sad.

Hope you feel better soon and that your LO continues to be unfazed about it.

FTRscreamingInTerror · 28/10/2013 22:30

Not very exotic but I can send a postcard from Newcastle and probably outing myself here but screw it I have DH in the forces who could send a couple from Caribbean locations over the next few weeks

Big unMNy hugs Thanks

PoppyScarer · 28/10/2013 22:32

Oh no Sad.

Was on the original thread. Can do a postcard, no prob. (((Hugs)))

SpookyRestingFace · 28/10/2013 23:37
Haloween Sad

Sorry to hear this. I'd be sobbing too. Glad DS is OK though.

themaltesefalcon · 29/10/2013 06:58

What a shame! Glad DS isn't too bothered.

SoupDragon · 29/10/2013 07:01

DS1 is nearly 15 - I would be gutted if RedTed disappeared! Clearly, he wouldn't care though. It is stupid and completely irrational but perfectly normal :)

bearleftmonkeyright · 29/10/2013 07:13

Read Tatty Ratty to your DS. Then if you can, see if you can "find" teddy in a toy store. He will look very different because of all the porridge he's eaten and all the adventures he's had, posssibly in Newcastle Grin. Tatty Ratty is just the story.

Fecklessdizzy · 29/10/2013 09:40

Oh dear.

Tatty Ratty is wonderful, though ... We particularly liked the bit where he bites the princess!

2tiredtoScare · 29/10/2013 09:43

Poor you, I cried when my DD left her beloved teddy in school and he was trapped there for the weekend

RedHelenB · 29/10/2013 09:55

If ds isn't bothered then let it go! Seriously, you have your memories of him & his teddy and presumably photographs. I remember my brothers bear better than my own cos he was so attached to it & don't have photographs or the teddy!

skylerwhite · 29/10/2013 11:02

Look at this - much loved teddies in photographs.

GhostsInSnow · 29/10/2013 11:37

Oh no Sad was so hoping for a happy ending.

JockTamsonsBairns · 29/10/2013 12:39

Oh no Sad I was hoping to hear of a happy reunion.

If there's any consolation at all, it's that your Ds seems to be bearing up ok. As you've already acknowledged, this is to do with your feelings around him growing up - and that Teddy represented his baby years. It feels like such a loss right now, but one day you'll smile about this.

When Dd left Piggy on the bus all those years ago, I was utterly devastated - probably more than would be considered a 'normal' reaction! It really helped me to make a bit of an adventure out of it. Piggy sent Dd a birthday card for a few years, and there were the postcards from various places from time to time. Sounds a bit silly now looking back, but there we are. It helped at the time.

PM me, and I'll gladly send a postcard from 'Teddy' from time to time.

SayMyNameSayIt · 30/10/2013 00:29

Thank you, everyone. Yes, teddy IS the embodiment of ds1's childhood. Am sure I dreamt about teddy last night.

The only thing that bothers me now is just thinking about teddy and him lying somewhere unloved. I feel so guilty for losing him!!!! (Tearful again, for goodness sake!)

Anyway, I WILL get back to those who said they'd send postcards etc. ( had bad day with sore throat).

Thank you all again, and thank you if you even took the trouble to read this or the original thread, I know it wasn't the
most exciting.

I suspect like the Velveteen Rabbit, because he was loved so much that he has become real and is living a fab life.

DropYourSword · 30/10/2013 08:43

My Australian postcard offer still stands too!

I was really hoping he'd turn up though. Did you say his brothers teddy had gone missing too...did it turn back up?

CommanderShepard · 30/10/2013 13:11

Oh no :( I was hoping he'd turn up.

I'm going to Bulgaria to see family next year if Teddy would like to send a postcard from The Actual Arse End of Nowhere, and I live in Oxford. Teddies like Oxford. Chuck me a PM and I'll sort it out.

MyBaby1day · 31/10/2013 05:34

Sad, hope you get the little teddy back OP, teddies are very precious.

GrandstandingBlueTit · 31/10/2013 05:47

I'm so sorry. I followed the other thread, but didn't get a chance to post. I would be feeling exactly the same as you.

I'm in NZ. PM me if I can send a postcard.

Thanks
SavoyCabbage · 31/10/2013 06:02

I can send you a postcard from Melbourne.

CuriosityCola · 31/10/2013 06:13

Still happy to send postcards.

kiwikaterpillar · 31/10/2013 06:16

Can send a postcard from New Zealand if that helps. Maybe teddy has a thing for bungee jumping!Wink

SoupDragon · 31/10/2013 07:21

I don't understand the "need" for postcards given the DS is fine about the missing bear. Why rake it up again?
