DH thinks I am, I say, if it's in the shops, it's time to drink it! It certainly makes cleaning a more pleasurable experience.

My MIL said yesterday that the mulled wine season starts when the clocks go back. I'm inclined to agree!

Sparklingbrook · 27/10/2013 15:51

YABU. Warm wine? Sad

I'll never get fed up of warm spicy wine, Mmm. I don't half fancy a mince pie now though. Smile

Mulled wine is not Christmassy, it is Wintery.

And the weather is rather wintery right now!

Sparklingbrook · 27/10/2013 16:12

I may put it on my list and see if I can get into the warm wine. Smile

fanjofarrow · 27/10/2013 16:13

Nah, enjoy! Especially in this weather.

HazeltheMcWitch · 27/10/2013 16:16

Sparkling - you're right, of course, and warm wine is quite quite wrong.
So try this ---> www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/hotbutteredrum_87636 by the lovely Wayne Collins.

Sparklingbrook · 27/10/2013 16:20

Ooh Hazel what does that taste like? Butter in me alcohol? Shock

penguinplease · 27/10/2013 16:20

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 27/10/2013 16:20

Er, it taste of delicious.
The butter just makes it all rich and unctuous, it's not greasy or anything.

I am going to make some tonight. You know, because of the storm.

RenterNomad · 27/10/2013 16:32

Ooh, I may have to swap from the rose!

Trigglesx · 27/10/2013 16:33

I'd say that is the voice of reason. Now I'm interested in trying it. Off to Aldi's this week. Hopefully they will have some as well. Grin

CointreauVersial · 27/10/2013 16:37

My oh my, that Hot Buttered Rum sounds lush.

I just remembered I have a bottle of ready-made mulled wine somewhere (Christmas Raffle prize, I think), which would be perfect for a quick glass without all the mulling palaver.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/10/2013 16:58

I am going to make that hot buttered rum with bourbon. If it's good with rum, it can only be better with bourbon.

SilverApples · 27/10/2013 17:00

I always start drinking mulled wine after Hallowe'en, because I try out different recipes. I've been doing it for years, and have a dozen favourites that I like equally.

DipMeInChocolate · 27/10/2013 17:03

Yanbu I've already had a bottle of the Gluhwein and 5 ofthe pack of 6 mince pies.

WholeNutt · 27/10/2013 17:11

Hot buttered rum sounds lovely...I shall rename mine butter beers :)

Rubybrazilianwax · 27/10/2013 17:13

Our local garden centre sells these delicious in alcoholic cider or just apple juice. My dc love it. I will have a look about to see if can get them online for all mumsnetters to keep you cosy

Rubybrazilianwax · 27/10/2013 17:15

Found some here the carton lasts for ages. You just add teaspoon each time. I still have some left from last year

forgetmenots · 27/10/2013 18:20

In other freezing cold countries, hot or mulled drinks are a winter thing, not a Christmas thing... I think we should all be partaking as soon as the clocks go back!

Ev1lEdna · 27/10/2013 19:59

Ach never too early. Enjoy!

hearthwitch · 27/10/2013 20:28

its halloween week. mulled wine or cider is a prerequisite
