To want my supermarket points back?

A month ago I went to exchange some of my (well known supermarket) points into vouchers to use for days out. But my account seemed to not only be empty but also in somebody else's name.

I phoned supermarket and they said my account had been hacked and points used. But not a problem as they could see it had been fraud so could reinstate points. But would have to wait into mid October for them to do that.

Today I've been in touch again and they have no record of my last phone call. The name has been changed back to mine and the points are in the system. But it will be mid February until I can get them.

AIBU to want my points? Yes I know they are a "bonus" but I specifically have a credit card with this supermarket to accrue points for treats and nice days out and Christmas gifts. I really wanted to do some nice days out in half term and now can't.

Errr why will it take till mid Feb? YANBU

CunfuddledAlways · 26/10/2013 20:28

not unreasonable but it's always sensible to move the date and time you call and who you spoke to etc. why can't you get the points yet? ask to speak to someone higher!!

Toastandstrawberryjam · 26/10/2013 20:28

Apparently they can only be added back just before a statement is sent out and didn't get done before the current one.

no yanbu. is bet this is tesco?

if the points are in the system why the fuck would you need to wait until febryuary??? 4 months???

their customer service is shocking!

i once complained about something on their website and they then changed it and lied to me and pretended it had always been like that .luckily for me i'd taken a screenshot...

SueDoku · 26/10/2013 20:30

If they've got no record of your call, how did they know to change the name back and replace the points..??

That seems a very VERY long time to have to wait to have fraud put right - I'd ring again and ask to speak to a manager, or better still, put the query on their FB /Twitter page..... Angry

bundaberg · 26/10/2013 20:30

sorry cross posted.

still utter crap. ask for a new statement now.

this is just bollocks (imo)

Toastandstrawberryjam · 26/10/2013 20:30

Yes I know I should have noted the date and time but I completely forgot in my haste to get off the phone and check all my other accounts (apparently if your supermarket account is hacked there is a good chance your amazon and eBay one will be too).

and yy to facebook/twitter... i was going to suggest the same thing

Bosgrove · 26/10/2013 20:31

The big supermarket you are talking about is usually good if you contact customer service and explain your disappointment. I lost £45 of points through a system glitch, so I sent them an email (they also have a Facebook account) explaining that I had been intending on taking my children out with the points and I didn't want to wait months to get them back as it wasn't my fault they had gone. While they couldn't put them on my account straight away they gave me a number I could call in the meantime if I wanted to use them.

Toastandstrawberryjam · 26/10/2013 20:31

Sueduko - exactly what I said! Obviously somebody managed to change the account back!!

if they can see the name is now right and the points are now visible then why the hell cant you use them?!

I'd be raging! kick off you want them for Christmas

and name and shame them here OP!

bundaberg I've been there with Amazon. They corrected the page before replying to my complaint and asking for a link to the offending page. They seemed quite taken aback when I offered a screenshot. (They'd inflated the RRP so they could claim they were offering a large discount.)

Toast Surely they can only hack your Ebay and Amazon accounts as well if you've used the same password?!
