To think hating Katie Hopkins...

...is like hating Keith Lemon, the Pub Landlord or a 'cast member' from Made In Chelsea.

They are all just invented personalities to provide entertainment surely. Not to be taken seriously.

Her rubber mask is rubbish though. I'll give you that.

NotYoMomma · 26/10/2013 10:28

she does have pantomime villan down pat.

Branleuse · 26/10/2013 10:31

i think thats fair

ForwardSheCried · 26/10/2013 10:35

She's nothing but a professional troll, and a very obvious one.

One look at her comments on Twitter makes that entirely obvious. The fact that she referred to herself as a ''pantomime villain'' in her final Apprentice appearance makes it obvious. The fact that she now comes out with increasingly insane comments whenever she can makes it very clear. All that crap about baby names that she spouted was just to promote her e-book about her favourite baby names.

She'll say anything for attention, and the more outraged people get, the more she'll be wheeled out in various sections of the media.

KillerKoalaFaceFromSpace · 26/10/2013 10:49

Exactly. I am agog at how much attention she gets an how seriously she is taken.

It's like being furious with Nina Conti's monkey's opinions.

Totally agree. She's a professional stirrer. Her whole raison d'etre is to be controversial.

MamaBear17 · 26/10/2013 10:53

I've often wondered if its all an act. However, surely, if it is, the effect it would have on her life and friendships would far out weigh the money made by playing the character?

ForwardSheCried · 26/10/2013 10:55

Not if those in her life are completely used to it, and reliant on it. Which they are.

Sparklingbrook · 26/10/2013 10:55

You are so right Killer. She should be in panto so we could all boo and hiss. She is definitely like Keith lemon only not as good looking.

NotYoMomma · 26/10/2013 10:56

I doubt it will have that much affect on her life

she will be paid handsomly and her friends and family will be fully aware it is all for show.

its only randoms on the internet and this morning she has to consider. and all she really has to consider is 'wooo more hits = more money!'

MistressDeeCee · 26/10/2013 11:02

The woman talks crap & gets paid for it. The media know she winds people up, they love a good shit stirrer. I should think she's doing just fine, and only her family & friends know her real persona - and its not the one she's put 'out there' so as to rake in money

MamaBear17 · 26/10/2013 11:05

Possibly. However, the fact that a person would do that still makes her morally reprehensible in my book. I ignore anything that she writes and turn the tv over when she is on it.

KillerKoalaFaceFromSpace · 26/10/2013 11:06

NotYoMama I agree. I doubt her friends and family care that much since she's not exactly a hate figure with people burning effigies.

It's just so boring now. We can guess what she'd have to say on any given subject. So why are people shocked when she actually says it?

OP posts:
ForwardSheCried · 26/10/2013 11:16

If everyone ignored her obvious trolling, she'd disappear tomorrow. Just like the odious Liz Jones and that idiot Sam Brick.

Boardingblues · 26/10/2013 11:19

That she is a pantomime villain or professional troll are valid observations... however, she is not talking nonsense either. There is a kernel of truth in what she says, it is her bluntness that is so entertaining shocking. She reminds me of a female Jeremy Clarkson in many ways.

ringaringarosy · 26/10/2013 11:21

some of what she says has a small amount of truth, but its the way she says it that makes people hate her.

agree she just does it for attention though.

ForwardSheCried · 26/10/2013 11:22

Well, I suppose that depends on your personal point of view. I think Jeremy Clarkson is a repulsive twat. An amusing twat, but a twat nonetheless, and one who needs a good hard kick in the pants. Grin

TheWickedWitchOfTheWest · 26/10/2013 11:24

Hating her is one of my favourite past times. I agree about the panto villain though.

mrsjay · 26/10/2013 11:25

I know how annoying she is but I don't waste my time hating her I get worked up about people employing her to go on their programmes and what not because so is so panto that whatever she says can't be taken seriously in any discussion they have it just makes a mockery of the programme trying to have a topic discussed ,

ForalltheSaints · 26/10/2013 12:16

I just ignore her.

sashh · 26/10/2013 12:40

I thought we were calling her Thrush?

BringBackBod · 26/10/2013 12:56

I bet she's absolutely lovely in real life.

TombOfMummyBeerest · 26/10/2013 13:00

Thank you...I see many threads about her and always forget to Google.

KillerKoalaFaceFromSpace · 26/10/2013 13:29

Bring She probably is. Her best mate is probably a SAHM with an ADHD child who tells her over glasses of wine the things that would make her furious if someone said them on TV. Then they laugh hysterically and say "no one takes it seriously do they? It's just like Janine in Eastenders!"
