Just that.
We live in a dead end street. There's a block of flats with numbered spaces and each house has its own space as well although no house spaces are numbered and some don't obviously belong to a specific house although they clearly belong to 'a house', IYSWIM, as most of them are in front of garages.
Ours falls into the latter category and is around the corner (just!) from us - our immediate neighbour is between us and it. DP mostly drives and being a lazy sod parks in front of our house as the pavement is wide. Our close friends (CF) could desperately do with the space (they live nearby, had to get a second car as her job moved 50 miles away) and have parked there when it's free.
Parking is chaotic - we are one of the few with one car only. For about four months someone from the flats has been parking in our proper space. At first I was a bit
as I came unstuck when I got home one day but since we've always been able to get a space in front of our house we decided that it wasn't worth fighting over unless necessary.
It became necessary on Thursday when we got home late, someone was having a party and there was nowhere for us to park because the cheeky beggars (CB) were still in our paid-for space. So I popped a very polite note on the windscreen saying that we didn't normally use the space but that we needed their name/number because sometimes we did need to use it and it was our space, in front of our garage. I left our names and house number. Heard nothing.
Yesterday CF brought us back from somewhere and CB had gone. I told CF to get in there quick. She's on A/L this week so it will sit there for a while
Noticed last night a funny car parked directly opposite our house. Twigged as I was going to sleep that it was CB's car. Am working away today, just called DP and they have parked their car there again despite there being ample room elsewhere, much closer to the flats. There is no sane reason to park immediately opposite our house as it's quite narrow (several people park our side of the street and there are drives on the other side that are frequently used). It is lined up with our front door
It was a total mistake to give them our house number wasn't it?
I'm quite looking forward to going home as I've yet to bump into them. Might loiter by the front door on the off chance...
