To think Starbucks have the worst customer service

So I ordered a grande soya latte and got a tall frothy cappuccino. Pointed this out nicely to the barista and she looked surprised then she said she would make me another drink (no apologies) but instead of just making another drink, she went over to the till to check if I was saying the truth! I heard the person at the till say that I had paid for a grande soya latte so the barista comes back and makes the drink again only....without coffee! I didn't see her pour the coffee in so I said "I think you forgot the coffee!" She shrugged it off rather rudely and handed me the drink. I then tasted it and yes there was no coffee! So I said to her again that there was no coffee! Her arsey reply :
"Well, we're running low on coffee"
Shock

Silly you - going to a coffee shop and expecting coffee. You'll be expecting fish and chips from a chippy next

wetaugust · 20/10/2013 15:42

Noooooo - Currys is far worse.

bimbabirba · 20/10/2013 15:43

I have to say that last comment really threw me Grin

Arrgh that's terrible! Did you complain to the manager?

Iamsparklyknickers · 20/10/2013 15:45

I know it shouldn't but that did make me laugh Grin

She's obviously not very enthralled by her job - not sure how much of that's a reflection on Starbucks if she's past the point of caring if the coffees have coffee in them!

Complain though - if she can't stomach the basics of her job for whatever she's earning then she shouldn't be there. Unless she's one of these workfare scheme placements? Do Starbucks participate in that?

Mollywashup · 20/10/2013 15:49

Why would you use a company that tries to pay as little tax in the uk as it can get away with? Could you not use a local coffee shop?

nomorecrumbs · 20/10/2013 15:52

I would have retorted that I wasn't paying in that case then, or "Well, I'm running low on patience with this crap service" Grin

I much prefer Costa anyway. Double the caffine!

bimbabirba · 20/10/2013 15:56

I didn't have time to complain to the manager but I was thinking of tweeting it because it seems the only way to complain that gets companies worried.
I do feel sorry for people working on a Sunday for NMW with no tips but it's not the customer's fault though is it?

It's unfair and inaccurate to say that the entire multi national company that is Starbucks has terrible customer service just because of one person who might have been having an off day.

They were all very nice in the Starbucks I used last week.

And ignore the shite about them paying tax. Most branches are owned by franchisees who will pay the same tax as any other comparable small business.

My local Starbucks has lovely friendly staff ....now Costa there's another story.

Iamsparklyknickers · 20/10/2013 19:22

I have to admit that I prefer a Costa but their staff are more often than not have awful attitudes - I wonder what they're doing to them behind the scenes?

The best one was when DP and I walked up to order and the lady said "can I help you" - DP started to open his mouth to order and she just walked off!

I was howling with laughter Grin and she at least had the decency to blush when she came back and I was still taking the piss out of DP for getting 'blazed' (I'm very childish).

If it's bad enough it can at the very least be amusing!

Trills · 20/10/2013 19:25

Were running low on coffee

:o

This was clearly this person's last day and they were seeing what they could get away with.

YABU to say that a huge multinational company has bad customer service because of one experience in one cafe (as BrokenSunglasses says)

Mckayz · 20/10/2013 19:29

No no no!! Costa have the worst customer service and bloody disgusting coffee to go with it.
